In Dan Da Dan Season 2, Episode 6—Episode 18 overall—the fictional band HAYASii performs “Hunting Soul” as part of an exorcism tied to Jiji’s possession. The sequence has separate Japanese and English vocal performances: Kisho Taniyama sings the Japanese version, while DragonForce vocalist Marc Hudson performs the English one.
What happens in HAYASii’s exorcism scene?
In “We Became a Family,” HAYASii’s heavy-metal performance becomes part of the effort to confront the supernatural threat connected to Jiji. The song is “Hunting Soul.” Rather than treating the metal act as background decoration, the scene makes the performance itself part of the exorcism’s theatrical energy.
That mix fits the series’ collision of paranormal horror, comedy, and high-volume spectacle. Japanese vocalist Kisho Taniyama described the approach as a “serious joke,” saying that an homage or parody needs to be performed sincerely rather than flippantly. Gizmodo’s account of the scene attributes the comment to an interview with Comic Natalie.
Who performs “Hunting Soul”?
The band is fictional, but the vocal performances and instrumental credits draw on real musicians. The Japanese and English versions are not interchangeable credits for one singer: each has its own vocalist.
