Marvel revealed the film’s official title, Captain America: Brave New World, on June 6, 2023, with an image of Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson alongside Harrison Ford. A separate footage preview followed at CinemaCon in April 2024.
What was the first look at Captain America 4?
The June 2023 reveal paired the new title with a behind-the-scenes image of Mackie and Ford on set. At the time, the film had been announced as Captain America: New World Order; Marvel changed the title to Captain America: Brave New World. Variety’s report, republished by Yahoo, said the then-scheduled May 3, 2024 release date was unchanged. That was the schedule reported in June 2023, not the film’s final release date.

Mackie’s social post was quoted in the report as saying, “When Harrison Ford tells you how kicking ass should look, you listen!” The line accompanied the set-photo reveal; it was not a description of footage released to the public.
How was the set photo different from the CinemaCon footage?
| Reveal | Date and format | What it showed |
|---|---|---|
| Title and set photo | June 6, 2023; a publicly reported image from the set | Mackie and Ford together, alongside the announcement of the new title. |
| CinemaCon preview | April 11, 2024; footage screened for attendees at Disney’s presentation | A press report’s recap of preview footage, including a White House exchange between Sam Wilson and President Ross. It was not a publicly released, complete scene transcript. |
These are two different moments often blurred by the phrase “first look”: the 2023 image introduced the title and gave a glimpse of the actors on set, while CinemaCon attendees saw moving footage nearly a year later.

- As he takes on the mantle of Captain America, Sam Wilson soon finds himself in the middle of an international incident. In a race against time, Sam must unravel a nefarious global plot before the true mastermind has the entire world seeing red. Warning: Some flashing-lights scenes in this film may affect photosensitive viewers.
What did the CinemaCon preview reveal about the film?
ComicBook.com’s April 11, 2024 report says Marvel head Kevin Feige described the movie as “a relatively grounded action thriller,” comparing it with Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The characterization is Feige’s, as quoted by the report, rather than an independent assessment of the finished film.
The report identifies Mackie’s Sam Wilson as the new Captain America and Ford as President Ross. In the preview scene as recapped by the outlet, Ross greets Wilson at the White House, and their exchange touches on Wilson not being Steve Rogers. Since the account describes footage shown at an industry presentation, it should not be read as a complete or publicly available scene.
