“Who by Water” is Season 2, Episode 6 of Bad Sisters. The episode was released on December 11, 2024, and is listed at approximately 60 minutes. Apple TV+’s series page provides the official series context; the plot account below follows episode recaps from Vulture and The A.V. Club.
What happens after Angelica disappears?
The episode opens with the sisters trying to make sense of Angelica’s disappearance after the boat incident. They are frightened not only by what may have happened to her, but by how their actions could look if they go to the police. Eva realizes she has already told detectives that she suspected Angelica of blackmailing Grace—a detail that could give investigators an apparent motive to scrutinize the Garveys.
Ian advises against contacting the police and goes to the marina. He finds blood and checks for nearby security cameras. A neighbor lets him access her footage; he copies it and deletes the original. His actions give the sisters practical help, but controlling the only copy of evidence also leaves them dependent on him.

The sisters clean the boat. Angelica’s phone turns up, while Becka discovers she is bleeding. The two problems unfold together: one threatens to draw the police closer, and the other sends Becka to the hospital.
What does “It’s all connected” mean in the investigation?
The phrase points to Houlihan’s investigative approach. At Grace’s crash site, she notices an apology note from Angelica and treats it as a reason to keep examining the links among Grace, Angelica and the Garveys. She does not regard the clues as isolated incidents. Loftus tries to discourage or contain her inquiry, but Houlihan continues to follow the connections.
The distinction is important: Houlihan’s pattern of suspicion is not proof that every event has one established explanation. The episode shows her pursuing a broader theory while the evidence—and what it might mean—remains unsettled.
Angelica’s car becomes another immediate risk. Bibi tries to move it, but Houlihan reaches it first. Bibi avoids being detected, leaving the sisters’ efforts to conceal their involvement exposed to the possibility of further discovery.

Can Ian be trusted?
Ian demonstrably helps the Garveys: he checks the marina, obtains the neighbor’s footage and removes its original. He also tells Eva that he cares about the family, “mainly” her, and the two sleep together. Those actions and words bring him closer to Eva while giving him influence over evidence that could matter to the sisters.
They do not establish his motives. Bibi challenges Eva’s growing attachment to him, asking why nobody from Ian’s past is around and why he directed her toward Angelica’s car. Her questions make his secrecy harder to ignore, but the episode offers suspicion rather than proof of betrayal—or proof that his help is entirely selfless.

Becka’s pregnancy scare
At the hospital, an ultrasound initially alarms Becka, then confirms that the pregnancy is okay. Later, she texts Matt to tell him she is pregnant and gets no response. The immediate medical fear lifts, but Matt’s silence leaves Becka without the reassurance she hoped for.
Eva and Bibi’s disagreement
Eva’s attraction to Ian develops amid grief, fear and responsibility for her family. Bibi’s objection is both protective and personal: she distrusts what she does not know about Ian and questions Eva’s timing. Their clash creates a new fault line among the sisters just as they are trying to act together.

Why the episode ends with uncertainty
“Who by Water” brings the crime plot and family tensions closer together without resolving either. Houlihan sees a connected trail and keeps pursuing it; the sisters try to contain the fallout; and Ian’s useful assistance is inseparable from unanswered questions about his past and his control of the marina footage. Eva’s choice to trust him emotionally does not settle the question Bibi raises about whether he can be trusted at all.
