Which actors have confirmed returning roles?
Disney+’s guide connects several of the returning performers to specific characters. It says Jessica Lange returns as Constance Langdon; Sarah Paulson reprises fan-favorite roles including Cordelia Goode; and Evan Peters revisits Tate Langdon and Kai Anderson and returns as James Patrick March. John Carroll Lynch is back as Twisty the Clown, while Jamie Brewer returns as Addie Langdon.
The guide also names Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe and Grossman among the appearances. It does not identify a role for each of them in the details provided, so their character assignments should not be inferred from the cast list.

Who are the new cast members?
Joey Pollari, Paul Anthony Kelly and John Waters are identified as newcomers to American Horror Story. Pollari plays Ben DeSoto, a hospice worker caring for a wealthy elderly patient with a mysterious past. The Disney+ guide reviewed here does not specify Kelly’s or Waters’s character.
Do you need to watch earlier seasons first?
No. Disney+ says viewers can follow Ben’s story without watching every earlier episode. For added context around the returning characters and the series’ earlier storylines, the guide points to Murder House, Coven, Hotel and Cult.

United States: The season premiered September 24, 2026, with three episodes. New episodes air on FX and stream simultaneously on Hulu; Hulu on Disney+ is available to eligible bundle subscribers. United Kingdom: Disney+ UK announced a September 25, 2026 premiere, with 13 half-hour episodes and a UK schedule ending October 30. That schedule is separate from the U.S. release dates; check the current listing for your territory. Disney+’s season guide lists 13 episodes and a U.S. sequence whose finale is scheduled for October 29.

Disney and FX’s August 2026 announcement says American Horror Story has received more than 100 Emmy nominations since launching in 2011 and accumulated more than 700 million streaming hours worldwide. The announcement does not give a measurement window for the streaming-hours figure. Disney’s press release is the source for both figures.
