Kathryn Hahn proposed that Agatha Harkness leave the house without a robe in the first episode of Agatha All Along because the image made her character’s powerlessness visible. Hahn later joked about the attention to the scene, which TVLine reported had been marked with a plaque as an MCU nudity milestone.
Why did Kathryn Hahn want Agatha to go outside without a robe?
In the premiere, Agatha emerges from Wanda’s spell and moves through the Westview identities she had been forced to inhabit. Hahn suggested that Agatha would not stop to find a robe before going outside. The choice turns her exposure into part of the character’s urgent, disoriented state rather than a separate spectacle.
“Well, I came up with it. I thought it was good to see her as stripped down, literally, as we possibly could, which spoke into her powerlessness at the present moment,” Hahn told Variety on September 20, 2024.
How did the show frame the scene?
Showrunner and executive producer Jac Schaeffer said the idea was grounded in Agatha’s priorities, not intended as an exploitative or sexual moment. “It is not exploitative, it is not sexual…. It is about this witch and what her priorities are. And in this moment, she needs answers and she doesn’t care if she’s naked or not. So yeah, it’s a point of pride for us,” Schaeffer told TVLine on September 18, 2024.

The scene is not explicit full-frontal nudity: Variety reported that camera placement and Hahn’s hair concealed areas that were not meant to be shown. TVLine identified Disney+ as the series’ streaming platform in its 2024 report; that historical reference does not establish availability in every country today.
What did Hahn joke about afterward?
In an October 2024 follow-up, TVLine reported that the milestone had been commemorated with a plaque on The Jennifer Hudson Show. Hahn’s response was playful: “It’s like I walked on the moon!”

The “first” label should be kept narrow. Variety described Hahn as the first woman to show her bare butt in a Marvel Studios project, while TVLine called her the only woman to bare her butt in a Marvel film or series as of its October 2024 report. Those descriptions concern a bare-butt shot, not a broader claim about all MCU nudity.
