Is there an official trailer?
Yes. Mojang published an official trailer article on November 18, 2024, introducing the adventurers’ arrival in the blocky world and the role creativity plays in survival. A further trailer and ticket-sales announcement followed on February 27, 2025. Both are available through Mojang’s official trailer article and its new-trailer announcement.
The February announcement also described a U.S. opening-weekend Fandango promotion: buying a ticket unlocked a jetpack add-on for Minecraft: Bedrock Edition, with internet access required. That was a dated promotion, not an ongoing offer.
When did the movie come out?
The international rollout began April 2, 2025, and the North American theatrical release was April 4, 2025. Those dates are in the past. Mojang’s November 2024 trailer article pointed to the April 4 theatrical date.

Discovery announcement gives the Max and HBO launch dates.
What is confirmed about the sequel?
The Associated Press reported on October 9, 2025, that Warner Bros. planned a sequel for July 23, 2027, with Jared Hess returning to direct and co-write. Jason Momoa was reported among its producers. AP said no official plot or cast had been announced at the time of publication, so character and casting rumors should not be treated as confirmed. The date is a reported studio plan, not a guarantee that the release schedule cannot change.

AP’s October 9, 2025 report gave point-in-time box-office figures of $424 million in North American ticket sales and more than $957 million worldwide. These are figures reported in that article, not live totals. Read the Associated Press sequel report for the announcement and figures.

Mojang also announced game-related DLC, add-ons, skins, and wallpaper. The article said the add-on, skin pack, and DLC were available in Marketplace until December 31, 2025, and that game content required Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. Because that stated availability period has passed, current Marketplace availability should be checked rather than assumed. Details appeared in Mojang’s movie launch article.
