No. Bobby Nash dies in Season 8, Episode 15, “Lab Rats,” but that was not Peter Krause’s last appearance in Season 8. Showrunner Tim Minear said Krause would appear again before the season ended in a dream, flashback, or hallucination—and stressed that Bobby was dead, not returning to life.

What happens to Bobby in “Lab Rats”?

In Season 8, Episode 15, “Lab Rats,” Bobby sacrifices himself to save Chimney and the crew. The episode marks Bobby’s death in the story, rather than a temporary disappearance or an unresolved cliffhanger.

Was the death episode Peter Krause’s last appearance?

No. Minear told TV Insider that Krause would be seen again before Season 8 ended, in one of the forms the interviewer had raised: a dream, flashback, or hallucination. Minear made the distinction explicit: “I don’t want to mislead anyone. He’s dead.” The later appearance was therefore not evidence that Bobby survived or was brought back as a living character.

Did Peter Krause ask to leave the show?

Minear said Bobby’s death was his decision, not a request from Krause to exit. In an interview with TVLine, the showrunner answered, “No, this was entirely a creative decision on my part, really.” He also said Krause understood the creative reasoning, while making clear he did not want to stop working with him.

Why did the showrunner choose to kill Bobby?

Minear said he wanted the danger faced by the characters to have real consequences. If peril never resulted in meaningful loss, he argued, the stakes would feel hollow. He also described Bobby’s sacrifice as a logical culmination of the character’s arc and said the death would give the rest of the characters consequential stories to carry forward.

Minear told TV Insider that the episodes after Bobby’s death would allow viewers to grieve alongside the characters. Krause, in his own public comments reported by ABC News / Good Morning America, described Bobby as willing to sacrifice himself so others could see another day and said he would miss the cast and crew after eight seasons.

What is known about Bobby’s status after Season 8?

Later coverage during the show’s Season 10 period continued to describe Bobby as having been killed off in Season 8; it did not report a return to the living cast. That is a snapshot of reporting available as of September 2026, not a guarantee about what the series might do in the future. The confirmed answer to the episode question remains: Krause appeared again in Season 8, but Minear described that appearance as a dream, flashback, or hallucination—not Bobby’s survival.
