Lydia Plath’s husband is Zac Wyse. The couple married in February 2025 at the Plath family farm in Georgia, according to PEOPLE’s report republished by AOL. A January 7, 2026 episode listing for The Unplanned Podcast with Matt & Abby identifies her as Lydia Plath Wyse and refers to Zac as her husband.
Their wedding followed a short courtship. They met at a church young-adult gathering in Colorado, according to Lydia’s account in Us Weekly’s recap of the season 7 premiere. The recap dates their meeting to August 2024; Distractify’s relationship timeline says Lydia made the relationship public in November and the pair announced their engagement in December 2024.
Why did Lydia and Zac marry so quickly?
On the show, Zac said a planned Germany mission trip influenced the timing. As he recounted it, the pair discussed whether they would travel “married or engaged” and chose to marry beforehand. The premiere account says Zac planned to propose in two weeks and that the wedding was planned for three months later. Their reported February 2025 wedding came about six months after they met. Zac also described wanting the day to focus on their commitment rather than elaborate details: “Neither of us wanted to get caught up in the details we won’t remember for the years to come. So we’ve tried to keep our focus on what our purpose for this day is, our union before God, our friends, and family.” These comments were reported by PEOPLE via AOL.
Was it really a “shotgun wedding”?
No. Ethan used “shotgun wedding” as a joke about how fast Lydia and Zac were moving. The phrase prompted Lydia to look up its meaning, and she clarified that she was not pregnant and was not being forced to marry, as recounted by Us Weekly and PEOPLE via AOL. The available account supports reading Ethan’s line as teasing commentary on the schedule, not as evidence of pregnancy or coercion.

How did the Plath family react?
Ethan expressed surprise and thought the engagement and wedding plans were moving quickly. Barry, by contrast, supported the relationship and gave Zac his blessing to propose.
