A January 2025 article attributes a story about a secret UFO retrieval to Jake Barber, whom it describes as a former U.S. Air Force officer. It says he claimed to have helped recover an unusual object. That is an allegation reported by a news article—not a documented government confirmation that a craft was retrieved or that it came from beyond Earth.
What did Jake Barber reportedly say?
Indian Defence Review’s January 29, 2025 article says Barber described taking part in a top-secret military recovery operation. It portrays the object as white and egg-shaped, and reports claims that it hovered without visible propulsion or a heat signature. The article does not provide independently verifiable measurements, records, physical evidence, or statements from other witnesses to establish those details.
The article also says Barber’s colleagues in a UAP task force confirmed the object was “non-human intelligence.” It names no colleague and supplies no independent record for that assertion. It should therefore be understood as the article’s account of Barber’s claims, not as an official U.S. government finding. Read the Indian Defence Review article.
Has the government confirmed a UFO retrieval?
The account is not confirmation by the U.S. government. A separate official source, the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), published a historical review in 2024 that assessed U.S. government investigations and allegations about unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP).
#1 Best Overall
- Based on accounts and sightings of unidentified crafts as described and witnessed over the years
- Includes landing gear and open hatch panels, as well as closed hatch panels for building a flying display model
- Comes in gray, with a plastic clear diffused green lenses perfect for lighting
AARO stated that “the aggregate findings of all USG investigations to date have not found even one case of UAP representing off-world technology.” It also said it had no evidence for the government reverse-engineering narrative it examined and had disproved the majority of claims from interviewees. These are AARO’s conclusions within the scope of its review; the report does not establish that every UAP observation has been explained, nor does the available information here establish whether AARO specifically assessed Barber’s account. Read AARO’s 2024 Historical Record Report: Volume I.
Why an unresolved UAP is not proof of an alien craft
AARO acknowledged that some cases remain unsolved, “primarily because of the lack of actionable and researchable data.” An observation can remain unidentified when the available information is inadequate to determine what happened. That uncertainty is not evidence by itself that the object was extraterrestrial.

- Complete Space Adventure: Includes UFO, 2 aliens, 1 astronaut, and 1 space sled for immersive play.
- Interactive UFO Features: Opening center capsule and fold-down landing gear enhance storytelling fun.

- Durable & Kid-Friendly: Made for ages 3+, designed with sturdy, safe materials for everyday play.
The two sources address different things: the Indian Defence Review article reports a personal allegation attributed to Barber, while AARO summarizes its assessment of a broader set of U.S. government investigations and claims. Neither the article’s description of an object nor its account of colleagues’ alleged conclusion supplies independent verification of this specific retrieval.
