Ryan Guzman’s comments offered a hopeful sign for 9-1-1 fans, but they were not a formal promise that he would return. Exit speculation grew after Eddie Diaz considered moving to Texas to be closer to his son Christopher; later coverage placed Guzman in the season 9 premiere without settling his longer-term future.
Why did viewers think Ryan Guzman might leave 9-1-1?
Guzman has played firefighter Eddie Diaz at Los Angeles’s Station 118 since season 2, according to IMDb News’ syndicated summary of Collider’s Feb. 12, 2025 coverage. The speculation followed Eddie’s season 8 storyline: he considered moving to Texas so he could be closer to Christopher, his son.
Showrunner Tim Minear described Eddie as “dead serious about [moving],” as quoted in the syndicated summary. That made the possibility feel consequential for the character, but it was a plot development—not an announcement that Guzman had quit the show.
What did Ryan Guzman say about continuing?
The syndicated account says Guzman was asked whether he was open to continuing on 9-1-1 and gave a hopeful response. That indicates openness, not a confirmed contract, a casting announcement, or a guarantee of future appearances. The account summarizes the interview rather than reproducing its full text; the original Forbes interview was not accessible in the results reviewed.

Was Guzman in season 9?
Yes, later coverage provides evidence of his participation at that point: an AOL republication of a People interview, dated Oct. 16, 2025, describes Guzman in the season 9 premiere and quotes him discussing Eddie’s work with Hen. That confirms season 9 context as of that interview, but it does not establish his status in later seasons.

Eddie considered the move in season 8 because he wanted to be near Christopher. The available coverage explains why the storyline fueled exit rumors, but it does not establish that Eddie permanently left Los Angeles—or that Guzman was leaving the series.
