At Beach Break, Kenny Omega defeated MJF for the championship. The stakes had been set in AEW’s preview: Omega would lose his right to challenge for the title again if he failed to beat MJF. Page had also most recently lost his own world-title opportunity to MJF earlier that year.
What did Page say about challenging for the world title?
Page said he had put his ability to challenge for the AEW World Championship on the line against MJF, and described the stipulation as a matter of personal honor rather than just wording on a contract. He stated: “I will never challenge for the All Elite Wrestling Men’s World Championship again.” The quote appears in AEW’s official Collision results.
