Linda Hamilton said in February 2024 that she was done playing Sarah Connor, describing the story as “done to death.” That is her stated position on returning; it does not establish whether the Terminator franchise itself will continue.
Is Linda Hamilton returning to Terminator?
Based on her reported comments in February 2024, Hamilton does not intend to return. ComicBook.com reported that she told Business Insider: “The story’s been told, and it’s been done to death,” and that she had nothing more to say in the franchise. ComicBook.com’s February 22, 2024 report reproduces those remarks.

Hamilton also said, “Why anybody would relaunch it is a mystery to me.” That is her view of repeated attempts to revive the story, not an announcement about a planned film or a decision by the studio.
What Hamilton said about Sarah Connor
Hamilton’s comments were not only about whether she would reprise the role. She described Sarah Connor as an imperfect person, saying: “She’s not a good mother, she’s a good fighter!” She characterized Connor as a woman in hell. These are Hamilton’s interpretation of the character and her history, rather than an objective verdict on Connor.

How Dark Fate fits into her answer
The remarks followed Hamilton’s return as Sarah Connor in Terminator: Dark Fate (2019). A February 19, 2024 Fox News report identified it as her most recent Terminator film appearance at the time.
In April 2024, Hamilton also joked to The Hollywood Reporter about what was more likely: her return or AI writing the next film. Her answer was, “AI writing the next Terminator movie. And they kill me off before we start. That’s the best scenario.” ComicBook.com’s April 13, 2024 account reports the exchange. It was a joke, not confirmation of a project, casting plan, or franchise decision.

Does this mean the Terminator franchise is over?
No such conclusion follows from Hamilton’s remarks. Her comments answer the question of her own willingness to return; the cited reports do not establish whether another Terminator installment is in development or whether the franchise has ended. Hamilton’s decision and the series’ production future are separate questions.
