The Court denied the petition on November 10, 2025; it did not issue a new ruling overturning Obergefell v. Hodges.
What Sam Greisman said about Kim Davis
According to AOL’s report, Greisman posted on X on August 11, 2025: “Not this hideous bitch again.” AOL reported the post the following day and said it responded to news that Davis had asked the Supreme Court to review its 2015 decision in Obergefell v. Hodges.
The insult is Greisman’s wording, quoted by AOL. Sally Field did not author the post, and the report does not say she separately endorsed it.
What Davis asked the Supreme Court to do
The Supreme Court docket identifies the case as Kim Davis v. David Ermold, et al., No. 25-125. Davis filed a petition for a writ of certiorari on July 24, 2025, asking the Court to review the case related to Obergefell v. Hodges. Filing a petition requests the Court’s review; it does not itself change the law.

What the Court decided—and what it did not
The official Supreme Court docket records that the petition was denied on November 10, 2025. That is the disposition of Davis’s request for review. It was not a new merits ruling overturning Obergefell, and it did not invalidate same-sex marriage nationwide.

Greisman is a film producer and Field’s son. AOL’s article notes Field’s public support for him and LGBTQ+ rights. In a 2014 statement quoted by AOL, Field said: “Sam is my youngest son, by 18 years, and he’s gay. To that, I say: So what?” That background explains the family connection in the headline, but the 2025 post was Greisman’s.
