A March 2026 report attributes a 40-series comedy ranking to Collider and says it is based on IMDb user ratings. The report provides the top ten, but the other 30 positions could not be verified. Here are the reported entries, in order, with a guide to what the ranking does—and does not—tell you.
Collider’s reported top 10 comedy series, ranked
The order below is reported by a secondary translated archive article dated March 23, 2026. The original Collider list was not available for direct verification, so these are reported ranking details rather than a confirmed reproduction of Collider’s article. Dates are as given in that report. Source: Cinematographe, March 23, 2026.
- The Office (2005–2013)
- Rick and Morty (2013–present)
- Seinfeld (1989–1998)
- Succession (2018–2023)
- Friends (1994–2004)
- It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (2005–present)
- BoJack Horseman (2014–2020)
- Curb Your Enthusiasm (2000–2024)
- Freaks and Geeks (1999–2000)
- Fawlty Towers (1975–1979)
The mix spans workplace and ensemble sitcoms, animation, cringe comedy, and satire. Succession, in particular, blends comedy with drama; genre labels and tone can vary by source. The list is best read as a ranking shaped by user ratings, not as a claim that every title belongs to one narrow style of comedy.
What “according to IMDb” means here
IMDb did not publish this Collider ranking. The March 2026 report attributes it to Collider and describes its basis as IMDb user ratings. IMDb’s own comedy-filtered Top 250 TV chart says its formula uses the number of user ratings and the value of ratings submitted by regular users. For that chart, a series must have at least 10,000 user ratings and at least five aired episodes. Those are the chart’s stated eligibility rules; there is no confirmation that Collider used exactly those thresholds or the same chart configuration. IMDb comedy-filtered Top 250 TV chart.

An IMDb user-rating ranking reflects the ratings and participation of IMDb users. It is not a universal measure of how funny a show is, and a different audience or weighting method could produce a different order. IMDb scores and chart positions can also change as users submit ratings; a separate explainer notes this volatility, so a number seen today should not be treated as permanent. Why IMDb’s “most popular” comedy chart is different
IMDb also has a chart labeled “100 most popular comedy TV shows,” determined by IMDb users. Popularity and all-time ranking answer different questions: a popularity chart concerns which titles are popular under that chart’s measure, while the reported Collider list is presented as an all-time best ranking based on user ratings. The two should not be treated as interchangeable. IMDb’s 100 most popular comedy TV shows.
How to use the list as a watch guide
- For familiar sitcom formats: start with The Office, Seinfeld, Friends, or Fawlty Towers.
- For animation: the reported top ten includes Rick and Morty and BoJack Horseman, which approach comedy in different tones.
- For sharper or more uncomfortable humor: consider It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia or Curb Your Enthusiasm.
- For comedy mixed with drama or satire: Succession sits in a less straightforward genre category than a conventional sitcom.
- For a short-lived series: Freaks and Geeks is the briefest-running title in this reported top ten, ending in 2000.
These are viewing-oriented descriptions, not additional measured rankings. The reported list does not establish a universal starting point; choose by format and tone rather than treating a high position as a guarantee that a show will suit every viewer.

The available report gives the ten entries above and attributes a 40-project ranking to Collider. It does not establish the exact positions of entries 11 through 40, and those titles should not be filled in from another list or reconstructed from a different IMDb chart. The original Collider page was not directly verified, so the attribution and ordering here carry that qualification.
