After viewers criticized the apparent animation-quality drop between Uzumaki’s first and second episodes, Adult Swim producer Jason DeMarco reportedly said the team chose to release the complete four-episode series rather than stop or air only the premiere. He acknowledged viewers’ disappointment, but did not explain what had happened or identify anyone responsible.
What Jason DeMarco reportedly said
Animehunch reported that DeMarco described three possible outcomes for the series: release nothing, air only episode one and leave the story incomplete, or release all four episodes “warts and all.” He said the team chose the third option out of respect for the work invested.
“I can’t talk about what went down but we were screwed over and the options were A) not finish and air nothing and call it a loss, B) Just finish and air ep 1 and leave it incomplete or C) run all four, warts and all. Out of respect for the hard work we chose C.”
The statement is attributed to DeMarco in reporting that preserved his social media posts; the posts were later deleted. The available quotation does not provide details about the events behind the decision.

Why episode two drew criticism
Contemporary coverage described a sharp perceived contrast between the animation in episode one and episode two. What the statement does—and does not—explain
DeMarco reportedly said viewers had reason to be disappointed and that he could not say who was to blame. His phrase “we were screwed over” signals frustration, but the reported post does not specify a cause. It does not name a studio or individual, or establish that budget, outsourcing, scheduling, or another particular production decision caused the perceived change.
