The biggest reported TV paychecks exceed $2 million per episode, but the headline amounts are not all comparable: some include producing duties, reports differ over what is included, and the deals span different eras. The ranking below gives each figure with its show and period, and distinguishes reported packages from clearer acting-salary benchmarks.
Who are the highest-paid TV actors per episode?
This is a ranking of publicly reported episode-level figures, not an audited list of every actor’s contract. The amounts are nominal dollars from different years, not adjusted for inflation. Where the source describes a package or a figure as a minimum or maximum, that qualification is part of the ranking.

| Reported amount per episode | Actor and show | Period and what the figure covers |
|---|---|---|
| $3.2 million | Sarah Jessica Parker, Sex and the City | Final three seasons; reported acting-and-producer package after Parker became a producer, rather than a verified acting-only salary. Celebrity Net Worth reports the figure. |
| At least $2 million | Robert Downey Jr., The Sympathizer | Reported rate; Downey also served as an executive producer. The figure is reported, not publicly confirmed. Celebrity Net Worth reports it. |
| Up to $2 million | Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, The Morning Show | Reported rate for each; both were executive producers. Reports differ on whether producing compensation is included. Celebrity Net Worth describes the estimate. |
| At least $1.8 million | Ray Romano, Everybody Loves Raymond | Reported contract rate; the source says it excluded additional producing and syndication income. Celebrity Net Worth places it above Grammer’s reported rate. |
| $1.6 million | Kelsey Grammer, Frasier | Reported historical salary per episode. Celebrity Net Worth gives this as a benchmark later surpassed by Romano. |
| $1 million | Jerry Seinfeld, Seinfeld | Reported rate for the ninth and final season in 1997; Celebrity Net Worth describes Seinfeld as the first television actor to reach $1 million per episode. |
| $40,000 | Jason Isaacs, The White Lotus | Season three in 2025: Isaacs said every cast member received the same amount. Across the eight-episode season, that works out to about $320,000 per actor. Variety reported his confirmation on June 18, 2025. |
Why the reported pay figures are hard to compare
Some headline rates include producing work
Parker’s reported Sex and the City figure is an acting-and-producer package. Downey, Aniston and Witherspoon also had executive-producer roles on the shows associated with their reported rates; for The Morning Show, reporting differs on whether the producing work is included. Those amounts should not be treated as confirmed acting-only salaries.
Backend can change the number
Episode-rate reports may bundle compensation beyond a performer’s base salary. For example, Celebrity Net Worth says the often-repeated figure of about $1.8 million per episode for Charlie Sheen on Two and a Half Men includes expected backend, while the reported base salary was nearer $1.25 million. It also describes John Krasinski’s Jack Ryan figure as including producing compensation. These examples illustrate why an impressive headline number may not equal a simple acting paycheck.

Annual earnings are a different measure
An annual celebrity-earnings list can include endorsements, licensing and business ventures, according to Celebrity Net Worth. Those totals do not establish which actor earned the most per episode.
Evidence varies by entry
Isaacs directly confirmed the equal-pay figure for The White Lotus season three in an interview reported by Variety. The other figures above are reported estimates or historical salary accounts compiled by Celebrity Net Worth, not a public registry of contracts. The available reports do not establish a comprehensive all-time or current leaderboard, and the contracts behind many TV salaries remain private.

What the ranking tells viewers
Reported top-end episode rates can exceed $2 million, but the biggest figures may include producer compensation and cannot be lined up as if every actor received the same kind of paycheck. The historical network-sitcom deals remain notable benchmarks, while Isaacs’s confirmation offers a contrasting example: a prominent streaming cast reporting equal per-episode pay at a much lower rate. These figures answer a narrower question than total yearly earnings, and they should be read with their specific show, season and compensation terms attached.
