Yes. Netflix confirmed The Witcher Season 5, and it will be the series’ final season. The bad news for viewers waiting to return to the Continent is that Netflix has not announced a premiere date. A report in August 2026 said the season was expected in 2027, but noted that Netflix had not publicly confirmed that shift or set a specific release window.
Season 5 is confirmed—and it ends the series
Netflix announced on 18 April 2024 that it had greenlit Season 5, calling it “the final chapter in Geralt’s story.” Netflix reiterated in a 10 December 2025 update that it is the fifth and final season. The renewal was not a cancellation scare: the show has a planned final season, but no season beyond it has been announced in the cited updates. Netflix’s renewal announcement and its December 2025 update establish the series status.

When will The Witcher Season 5 come out?
Netflix has not announced an exact premiere date or an official release window in the updates cited here. What’s on Netflix reported on 7 August 2026 that the expected release had moved from 2026 to 2027, while explicitly noting that Netflix had not publicly confirmed the shift and no exact 2027 window was locked. Treat 2027 as an outlet-reported expectation, not a Netflix date. Read the outlet’s release-timing report.
Netflix’s January 2026 slate announcement does not settle the question: Netflix said the slate was not comprehensive and that select title announcements could come later. Its omission of Season 5 therefore is not proof of a delay or a confirmed schedule change. Netflix’s 2026 slate announcement.

What viewers can expect from the final seasons
Season 4 is already streaming
Netflix said on 10 December 2025 that all eight episodes of Season 4 were streaming. The fourth season sets up the final stretch, with Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri travelling separately through a war-ravaged Continent after Season 3, according to Netflix’s earlier logline.
Liam Hemsworth plays Geralt
Hemsworth took over the role of Geralt for Seasons 4 and 5. Netflix described both seasons as being filmed back-to-back, making them a connected production plan rather than evidence of a release date.
The books behind the conclusion
Netflix says the final two seasons draw on Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels Baptism of Fire, The Tower of the Swallow and Lady of the Lake. The announcement does not assign each book to a particular season, so the titles indicate the source material for the concluding adaptation rather than a precise episode-by-episode map.

- Good news: Season 5 is confirmed, and Netflix has identified it as the conclusion of Geralt’s story.
- Bad news: It is intended to be the main series’ last season, and the widely reported 2027 expectation remains unconfirmed by Netflix.
Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich described the final two seasons as “the beginning of a two-season journey for our family to finally reunite and be together — hopefully forever,” in a September 2025 interview with Netflix Tudum. Netflix Tudum’s Season 4 feature.
