In the general rules described by an unaffiliated third-party guide, Strands is played on a 6-by-8 grid. Words can bend through horizontal, vertical, or diagonal connections, and a letter cannot be reused within the same word. The spangram summarizes the theme and connects two opposite sides of the grid. Finding three valid words that are not theme answers unlocks a hint that highlights one theme word.
