The Best MLB Streaming Services for 2026: Choose by Team, ZIP Code, and Budget

The right MLB streaming service depends on whether your games are local or out of market. Compare MLB.TV and live-TV bundles by ZIP code, channel lineup, and total cost.

There is no single best MLB streaming service for every fan. MLB.TV is the natural starting point for most out-of-market baseball, while viewers who need local games usually need a live-TV service carrying their team’s local station or regional sports network (RSN). Before subscribing, check the exact game, broadcast network, and provider lineup for your ZIP code.

This guide compares the services by the problem they solve. The available information supports current plan details and feature comparisons, but not a documented hands-on test of stream quality, reliability, or playback performance; those judgments are not presented as test results.

Which MLB streaming service should you start with?

If you are… Start with… Check first
Following an out-of-market team and mostly watching baseball MLB.TV Whether the specific game is subject to a local, national, or other rights restriction.
Trying to watch your local team A live-TV provider carrying the team’s local station or RSN The exact channel, package, and ZIP-code lineup.
Replacing cable with a broad live-TV service YouTube TV Local station and sports-network availability, plus the regular price.
Already paying for Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN Hulu + Live TV Whether the live channels you need are available locally; ESPN does not mean every MLB game is included.
Wanting a sports-focused live-TV option Fubo That the selected plan carries the specific local and national networks for your games.
Needing a particular RSN DIRECTV STREAM Whether that RSN is in your market and package, and what the current total price is.
Seeking a lower-cost or short-term option Sling TV Local-channel availability, required add-ons, and whether an antenna can fill the local-channel gap.

These services solve different access problems. MLB.TV is centered on baseball and out-of-market viewing; live-TV bundles provide selected channels, which may include local games or national broadcasts. Neither category should be assumed to carry every game a fan wants.

First determine whether your games are local or out of market

“Local” depends on where you are watching, not just which team you support. A game may be unavailable through MLB.TV in a team’s local market even when the subscription otherwise includes that club’s out-of-market games. National broadcasts and other rights restrictions can also affect availability.

#1 Best Overall
MLB
  • Watch in-game highlights (No blackout restrictions; no subscription required)
  • Listen to Home, Away and Spanish-language (where available) radio broadcasts (MLB Audio subscription required)
  • Live controls to pause and rewind live video
  • Enhanced Gameday pitch-by-pitch features, including realistic ballpark renderings from all 30 MLB parks
  • Breaking news, schedules, interactive rosters and player stats for every team
  1. List the games you care about. Identify your main team, any additional teams, and whether you want regular-season, national, or postseason broadcasts.
  2. Find each game’s broadcaster. Check the team’s current schedule or broadcast information to identify its local station, RSN, or national network.
  3. Check the channel in your location. Use the provider’s lineup tools for your ZIP code and confirm the channel is included in the specific plan—not merely offered as an add-on or in another market.
  4. Check MLB.TV for the actual game. MLB provides a blackout-support destination at its blackout help page. Confirm the current guidance and check the game from the location where you expect to watch.
  5. Compare the total monthly cost. Include required tiers, add-ons, screen fees, and any second service needed for games MLB.TV cannot show.

Travel can change what is available because location is part of the rights decision. A service that carries a team’s RSN in one ZIP code may not carry it in another. A blocked game is not necessarily an app fault, and a VPN should not be treated as a reliable or officially supported workaround.

MLB streaming services compared

Service Best fit Local games Out-of-market games Current price information DVR and viewing limits
MLB.TV Baseball-first fans following teams outside their local market May be blacked out; check the specific game and location Primarily designed for out-of-market viewing, subject to restrictions A dependable current national price was not exposed on the accessible official subscription page; check the current team-specific or full-league offer before purchase. The cited official subscription page does not establish comparable DVR retention, stream limits, or device details.
YouTube TV Broad live-TV replacement with DVR and multiview features Depends on local stations and ZIP-code lineup Not a substitute for MLB.TV’s out-of-market product; access depends on carried channels and game rights Main plan: $82.99/month. Sports Plan: $64.99/month. New-user offers displayed on the official page—$67.99/month for three months on the main plan and $54.99/month for the first 12 months on Sports Plan—ended August 26, 2026; do not treat them as current offers. Unlimited DVR; recordings retained for nine months. Three simultaneous streams and six household accounts are listed for the main plan.
Hulu + Live TV Households already using Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN Depends on local availability; blackouts apply Depends on the channels and rights available; ESPN inclusion is not a guarantee of every MLB game Ad-supported bundle: $89.99/month, including Hulu, Disney+, ESPN, and 100+ live channels, according to the official page. Unlimited DVR is advertised. Standard live viewing supports two simultaneous screens; unlimited screens is an add-on.
Fubo Sports-oriented households that find their needed channels in the selected plan Market- and package-dependent Depends on channels and game rights; not established as a complete out-of-market solution A dependable current monthly price was not exposed on the accessible official page; check the plan for your ZIP code. Comparable retention and stream-limit details were not established by the cited page.
DIRECTV STREAM Viewers for whom a particular RSN is decisive Only if the relevant RSN or station is available in the market and selected package Not established as an out-of-market replacement Current package pricing and market-specific RSN availability were not established on the accessible official page; verify both directly. Comparable DVR and simultaneous-stream terms were not established here.
Sling TV Budget-conscious viewers who need selected channels or short-term access Local channels are available only in select areas; Sling Orange does not include them Not an out-of-market replacement; channel and game rights determine access Official page advertises monthly plans under $51, with exact price depending on plan, market, and add-ons. A single-day pass is listed at $5. Includes 50 hours of cloud DVR; unlimited DVR is a $5/month add-on. Orange allows one stream, Blue up to three, and Orange & Blue up to four, with exceptions.

Prices and offers are not directly interchangeable: provider plans differ in channel lineups, promotions, taxes, and add-ons. The figures above are the price signals available from the linked official pages; confirm current terms before subscribing. A free trial, where displayed, may be limited by eligibility and can change.

What each service does well—and where it can fail

MLB.TV: the first place to look for out-of-market baseball

MLB.TV is the most direct fit for fans who want to follow teams outside their local market without buying a broad cable replacement. MLB’s subscription page offers team-specific product paths as well as MLB.TV purchase options, but the current price should be checked on the page for the season and product you want.

The main limitation is access, not the size of the baseball catalog: local blackouts and other rights restrictions can keep a particular game unavailable. Check a local game, an out-of-market game, and a nationally televised game before committing. If one local team and several distant teams matter to you, compare MLB.TV with the local live-TV option rather than assuming either subscription alone covers everything.

YouTube TV: a broad live-TV option with substantial DVR features

YouTube TV lists a main plan with 100+ channels, unlimited DVR, six household accounts, and three simultaneous streams. Its official page also lists multiview, key-plays features, and a 4K Plus add-on at $9.99/month. The regular main-plan price is $82.99/month; the introductory offers shown for new users ended August 26, 2026.

Rank #2
Fubo: Watch Live TV & Sports, Shows, Movies & News
  • Get your first month for only $49.99.
  • 350+ Live Channels of Sports, Shows, Movies & News
  • 10,000 Hours of On-Demand Shows & Movies
  • Select Events & Entertainment Available in 4K Ultra HD
  • 30 Hours of Cloud DVR Included (500 Hours Available as an Upgrade)

It can suit a household that wants local channels and a broad channel lineup in one service, but only if the necessary channels appear for its ZIP code. The Sports Plan is listed at $64.99/month; check its current lineup against the exact MLB networks you need before treating it as a lower-cost substitute. A baseball-only viewer may be paying for many channels they do not use.

Hulu + Live TV: a bundle, not an all-games MLB pass

The ad-supported Hulu + Live TV bundle is listed at $89.99/month and includes Hulu, Disney+, ESPN, and 100+ live channels. That can make its total value more attractive to households already paying for those services. The official page also displayed a three-day trial, but trial eligibility and availability can change.

Local availability and blackouts still apply. ESPN access does not guarantee every MLB game, and the standard live plan supports two simultaneous screens unless you add unlimited screens. Hulu advertises unlimited DVR; that description does not apply to on-demand shows.

Fubo: verify the channel, not just the sports branding

Fubo’s official site provides team, league, channel, and plan-comparison directories, including MLB-related team discovery. That makes it useful for checking whether a sports-oriented service has the channels that matter to you. The accessible official page did not establish a dependable current monthly price, so check the ZIP-code-specific plan details before comparing costs.

Do not infer that a sports-focused service includes your local RSN or every national MLB broadcaster. If the required network is missing from the selected plan, its sports discovery tools will not solve the rights gap.

Rank #3

DIRECTV STREAM: worth checking when one RSN decides the choice

DIRECTV STREAM is a candidate when the deciding factor is a particular regional sports network. The useful question is not whether the service carries RSNs in general, but whether it carries your team’s RSN in your market and in the package you would buy. Confirm that lineup and the current package price directly; a national claim about RSN coverage is not enough to establish availability at your address.

Sling TV: a flexible budget option with local-channel limits

Sling may work for viewers who need selected national sports channels, can use an antenna for available local broadcasts, or want a short-term pass rather than a full month. Its official page lists a $5 single-day pass, plans advertised under $51 per month, 50 hours of DVR, and an unlimited-DVR add-on for $5 per month. Exact plan cost and channel access depend on configuration and market.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Its local coverage is the important trade-off: local channels are available only in select areas, and Orange does not include them. Check whether the specific network airing your game is in your plan; do not assume a national sports channel carries the local broadcast.

How to compare the real cost

Start with the channel that carries your game, then price the plan that actually includes it. A low advertised base price can be misleading if the needed RSN or sports network requires a higher tier, or if a second service is necessary for blacked-out games.

  • Count the required subscriptions. A local team plus out-of-market teams may require both a live-TV service and MLB.TV, depending on rights and location.
  • Add required plan upgrades. Confirm whether the channel is in the base package or an add-on.
  • Separate promotions from regular rates. Note the offer’s eligibility, end date, and price after the promotion.
  • Include household needs. A second or third TV may affect simultaneous-stream limits or add-on costs.
  • Check fees and terms at checkout. Taxes, regional fees, cancellation terms, and trial eligibility can affect the amount paid.

For occasional viewing, a short-term pass or an antenna for available local broadcasts may cost less than a full live-TV subscription, but neither should be mistaken for comprehensive access to local, national, and out-of-market games. Sling’s $5 day pass is a specific short-term option; verify the included channels and event before buying.

DVR, replay, and devices: verify the details that matter to you

“Unlimited DVR” describes storage capacity, not every part of playback. Retention period, simultaneous streams, fast-forwarding, on-demand substitutions, and offline viewing are separate questions. For a game you plan to watch later, confirm that the service records the broadcast you need and how long the recording remains available.

  • YouTube TV: advertises unlimited DVR with nine-month retention, plus multiview and key-plays features. Its official page lists support for major streaming devices, smart TVs, mobile devices, browsers, and game consoles.
  • Hulu + Live TV: advertises unlimited DVR, with the stated exception for on-demand shows. Its device list includes web, Apple and Android devices, Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, Chromecast, Xbox, Samsung and LG TVs, Android TV, and PlayStation, with model restrictions.
  • Sling TV: includes 50 hours of cloud DVR; unlimited DVR is listed as a $5/month add-on.

Device support can vary by model and software version. Before paying, verify the app is available on the TV or streaming device you actually use, especially if it is an older smart TV. The linked official pages provide general platform information, but they do not establish identical support across every model.

Choose by household scenario

One out-of-market team, baseball first

Check MLB.TV first. Confirm the team’s product price and whether the games you want are available from your viewing location. If you also need the local team, price that channel separately before deciding whether a second service is justified.

One local team

Identify the local station or RSN for the games you watch. Compare live-TV providers only after checking their address-specific lineups and package tiers. An antenna may receive some local broadcast channels where available, but it does not provide an RSN or out-of-market games.

Local team plus several out-of-market teams

Expect a rights and cost comparison, not a one-service answer. Check the local team’s broadcast channel and the other teams’ availability on MLB.TV. A combined subscription may be necessary, but do not calculate a total until you have verified the current product price and the plan that carries the local network.

Marquee Sports Network
  • A new subscription option: App update includes the option for in-market streamers to purchase a subscription directly to Marquee Sports Network without needing a cable or streaming provider. If a user already has access to Marquee Sports Network through their cable or streaming provider, they will still have the ability to log-in with those credentials.
  • Enhanced streaming quality: Upgraded 1080p video resolution, providing users with improved streaming quality.
  • A fresh new look: UI/UX overhaul to update the app experience and user journey.

Baseball plus other live TV and sports

Compare YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, Fubo, and Sling by the networks you will use across the household—not by sports branding alone. Hulu’s included Disney+ and ESPN may matter to an existing bundle household; YouTube TV’s listed DVR and stream features may matter to a family; Sling may appeal when a narrower lineup is enough. The correct choice still depends on ZIP-code channel availability.

What this comparison can—and cannot—say about streaming quality

Provider feature pages and channel listings can establish advertised prices, plan features, and general device support. They do not establish which app starts fastest, has the least delay, stays most stable during a high-interest game, or performs best on a particular TV and internet connection. No repeatable test conditions are established here for those claims, so no service is labeled the most reliable or best-performing.

If picture and playback behavior are decisive, assess the service during a trial or month-to-month period where available. Use your usual device and connection, and check live viewing, pause and rewind, a recording, captions, game search, and switching between games. Also note that one game’s stream quality does not resolve whether the service has rights to show the games you need.

Final decision rule

Choose MLB.TV when your priority is out-of-market baseball and the games you want are not blocked. Choose a live-TV provider for local games only after verifying the specific RSN or station in your ZIP code and package. For everything else, compare the required channels and total recurring cost—not the service’s general reputation.
