How did The Late Show remember her?
LateNighter reported that, at the end of a Monday episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the broadcast displayed a card reading, “Dedicated to our dear friend Amy Cole, 1970-2024.” The outlet also reported that Colbert asked the audience to hold its applause and seemed at a loss for words before saying goodnight. According to LateNighter, the live audience did not see the title card during the taping. LateNighter’s April 2, 2024 report describes the broadcast moment.
The card’s wording was on-screen text, not a spoken quote from Colbert. The consulted accounts do not establish a direct statement by him about Cole.

Which tribute was this?
This was the 2024 dedication to Cole. It is separate from a CBS/Paramount-listed May 19, 2026 tribute in which Colbert honored the broader show staff with a previously unseen opening-credits sequence. CBS/Paramount’s listing for the staff tribute identifies that later, distinct event.
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is a comedy-variety talk show. CBS/Paramount says Colbert took over as host, executive producer, and writer on September 8, 2015. CBS/Paramount: About the show
