As of October 7, 2026, Apple has not announced a release date or release year for Pluribus Season 2. The season is confirmed, but its premiere timing remains uncertain: a late-October 2026 Albuquerque filming start was listed as planned, while late 2027 to 2028 is only an estimate.
Is Pluribus Season 2 confirmed?
Yes. Apple ordered Pluribus for two seasons from the outset, so Season 2 is not waiting on a new renewal decision after Season 1. TIME reported on the original two-season order in October 2025 (TIME).
When will Pluribus Season 2 come out?
Apple has not announced a premiere date or year, according to coverage updated October 1, 2026 (CST Online). Late 2027 to 2028 is a forecast, not a release window confirmed by Apple. The eventual gap between filming and release depends on the production schedule and post-production, and the available reporting does not establish either a precise timeline or a firm premiere month.
What is the status of the story and scripts?
After the September 15, 2026 Emmy ceremony, creator and showrunner Vince Gilligan told TheWrap that the team had figured out Season 2’s story. He said the plot of all episodes had been worked out, the first two scripts were written, and the remaining scripts were at different stages. He emphasized that the season was not fully written: “It’s technically not all written — we have broken it, which is a hard part.” (TheWrap)

Has filming started?
A Production List entry updated September 30, 2026, reported a planned production start in late October in Albuquerque, New Mexico (Production List). That is a scheduled start, not confirmation that cameras have rolled. Gilligan had earlier said on the Deadline Crew Call podcast that filming would begin “in a month—in a couple of months,” but 9to5Mac noted that the recording date was unclear. The later production listing is the more specific schedule report; neither item, on its own, confirms filming began (9to5Mac).
Why is a 2027 release not guaranteed?
Gilligan has not promised an annual return. In February 2026, he told TVLine, “We appreciate everybody’s patience, but it ain’t gonna be ‘The Pitt,’ coming back every year,” and said the show would return in the same month, “just the question is what year.” TVLine’s mention of November 2027 was its inference, not a date Gilligan or Apple announced (TVLine). A late-2027 or 2028 premiere may be possible, but it remains speculative while filming and post-production timing are unsettled.
