Barbara Pierce Bush, daughter of former President George W. Bush, campaigned with the Harris-Walz campaign in Pennsylvania during the weekend before the 2024 election, according to reports published October 29, 2024. Her father’s position was separate: contemporaneous coverage said he had not endorsed a candidate.
What Barbara Pierce Bush did for the Harris-Walz campaign
PEOPLE reported that Bush spent part of the preceding weekend in Pennsylvania campaigning for Vice President Kamala Harris. Spectrum News / NY1 also described her as campaigning in the state and endorsing Harris. The reporting says she joined friends and met voters with the campaign; it does not identify particular locations, a formal campaign role, or the number of people she met.
PEOPLE attributed this statement to Bush: “It was inspiring to join friends and meet voters with the Harris-Walz campaign in Pennsylvania this weekend. I’m hopeful they’ll move our country forward and protect women’s rights.” Spectrum News / NY1 reported the same wording. The available coverage does not establish that it came from a recorded speech or transcript.
What her father said—and did not say
Barbara Pierce Bush’s campaign activity should not be treated as an endorsement by the Bush family. George W. Bush, her father, had not endorsed a candidate in the 2024 election at the time of the reports. Axios said he and former first lady Laura Bush had no plans to weigh in then. Those accounts describe their position at that point in the 2024 campaign, not their views at other times.

What the reports establish about her reasons
Bush’s quoted statement identifies two hopes for the Harris-Walz ticket: moving the country forward and protecting women’s rights. The reports do not provide a fuller, policy-by-policy explanation of her personal reasons for supporting Harris, so broader motives should not be inferred from her family background or affiliations.

Axios placed Bush among Republican and Republican-associated figures who supported Harris, citing the Cheneys and Susan Ford Bales as other examples. That context does not show that Bush coordinated with, represented, or spoke on behalf of those figures.
