What is Star Wars Outlaws about?
Ubisoft places Star Wars Outlaws between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. It follows Kay Vess and her companion Nix as they navigate the galaxy’s criminal underworld in search of freedom and a new life. The premise and intended mechanics are described on Ubisoft’s official game page.

The game is built around exploration, speeder travel, blaster combat, stealth and gadgets, missions involving crime syndicates, and dogfights aboard Kay’s ship, the Trailblazer. Ubisoft’s description establishes what players are meant to do; it does not mean every activity or system was equally well received by critics.
Ubisoft’s FAQ lists Canto Bight, Kijimi, Tatooine, Akiva, and Toshara as explorable locations. The syndicates it names are the Pyke Syndicate, Hutt Cartel, Crimson Dawn, and Ashiga Clan.

How should you interpret the scores?
There is no stable, platform-specific current aggregate score established here, so a single number would risk implying a precision the available information does not support. Metacritic’s page showed 89 critic reviews when accessed in October 2026; that is a dynamic review count, not a score or a permanent statistic.
For historical context, Ubisoft’s September 25, 2024 corporate statement reported a Metacritic score of 76 and user scores of 3.9 out of 5 on its first-party and Epic stores. These are launch-period figures, not current ratings across platforms. Ubisoft also said initial sales were softer than expected. Commercial performance is separate from the quality judgments in reviews and should not be treated as a verdict on the game.

Which platform and edition should you consider?
The original game launched on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC on August 30, 2024, according to Ubisoft’s FAQ. Ubisoft lists Ubisoft Connect, Epic Games Store, and Steam as PC storefronts. For any purchase, check the current listing for your region and platform; availability, bundles, and storefront details can change.
Standard, Gold, or Ultimate
Ubisoft’s game page describes Gold and Ultimate Editions and lists Season Pass content including the story packs Wild Card and A Pirate’s Fortune, as well as Jabba’s Gambit and cosmetic packs. What a buyer receives can depend on the platform SKU and the current listing, so verify the included content rather than assuming every edition bundles the same items. A higher edition is most relevant if its included content is something you actually want.

Nintendo Switch 2
TechRadar’s January 2026 review covers the Switch 2 Gold Edition. Its reviewer reported a 30 fps target, generally stable performance with rare stutters in intense scenes, and nearly 15 hours of play across handheld and docked modes. The reviewer also said earlier crashes seemed to have been remedied by patches. These are that reviewer’s observations from their build and testing, not a guarantee for every player or a comparison establishing performance on all platforms.

- Consider it if: you want to explore recognizable Star Wars locations, spend time in the criminal underworld, and play an adventure centered on Kay and Nix.

- Choose an edition by its contents: compare the exact platform listing and decide whether its Season Pass story packs and other extras justify the difference for you.
