That was an expected window, not a confirmed first day of filming. The movie is now titled Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and Sony lists its general release date as July 31, 2026.
Did Tom Holland reveal a production start date?
Not an exact date. In an October 2024 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Holland said the plan was to shoot “next summer.” The Associated Press reported that statement on October 25, 2024, making summer 2025 the intended filming window at the time—not proof that production began on a particular day. The AP report does not establish an exact first day of production.
Holland also described the story idea as “a little different to anything we’ve done before, but I think the fans are going to really respond to it,” according to AP. That comment is his view of the project, not a production update.
What is Spider-Man 4 called, and when does it come out?
The fourth film starring Holland as Spider-Man is officially titled Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Sony’s film page lists its general release date as July 31, 2026. The earlier July 24, 2026 date appeared in AP’s October 2024 report; it is no longer the date Sony currently lists.

Sony says digital home viewing through major retailers, including Prime Video, became available on October 6, 2026. Its film page links to Amazon and other purchase options. Check the retailer’s live listing for the format and availability; Sony’s page does not establish that a physical disc edition is in stock.
Sony states that 4K HDR playback requires a 4K UHD TV and an Ultra HD Blu-ray player. Confirm the retailer’s product details before buying, since a digital listing and a disc edition are different formats.
