The clearest comparable ranking available here is based on reported touring gross—not total career income or members’ personal earnings. In Pollstar’s worldwide headlining-show chart covering July 7, 1980, through July 1, 2022, The Rolling Stones rank first among band acts, just ahead of U2. The figures are nominal U.S. dollars and are not adjusted for inflation.

What the ranking measures—and what it doesn’t
Reported live-show gross
Pollstar’s cumulative figures draw on box-office reports from talent buyers, venues, booking agents and artist managers, supplemented by research. The chart covers worldwide headlining shows in its documented period. It excludes festival appearances and support slots; package tours are included in some cases. See Pollstar’s explanation of the all-time chart for its methodology and comparison cautions.

Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Not net earnings or wealth
A touring gross is money reported at the box office, not the amount an act or its members keep. The cited chart does not account for comparable expenses, such as venue and promoter shares, production, management or taxes, and it does not establish band-member take-home pay. Nor do the cited figures combine touring with recordings, publishing, merchandising, licensing or other income, so they cannot establish who earned the most over an entire career from all sources.
Nominal dollars across different eras
The figures are not inflation-adjusted. A concert gross from one decade cannot be treated as equivalent purchasing power to the same nominal amount in another. Pollstar also publishes ticket totals, which provide a different historical comparison: one ticket remains one ticket regardless of when it was sold.

Gross and ticket sales tell different stories
The Stones lead this chart in cumulative gross, but U2 sold more tickets: 26,178,043 compared with the Stones’ 22,137,799. Dave Matthews Band sold 23,279,056 tickets, the highest count among the ten acts listed here, while ranking seventh by gross. Ticket volume and gross answer different questions; neither by itself measures profit or total career earnings.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why newer touring figures don’t simply update this table
The chart has a fixed cutoff, and later touring changes what a current cumulative total might look like. Pollstar’s December 2024 year-end coverage reported Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres tour above $1.14 billion gross and more than 10.3 million tickets by that point. That is a tour-specific figure, not a recalculation of every act’s total under the 1980–2022 chart’s scope.
Rank #3

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
Other recent rankings use different periods and measures. The Associated Press, reporting on Pollstar’s chart through the end of 2025, said Coldplay led millennium touring acts by ticket sales with 24.8 million, followed by U2 at 20.2 million; Dave Matthews Band was also among the top five. Those ticket totals are not a replacement for the cumulative gross ranking above. Pollstar’s 2024 analysis also described Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour gross as an estimate, noting that actual box-office figures had not been reported in either of the two prior years. Estimated and reported totals should not be treated as identical kinds of evidence.
One-year earnings lists are another distinct measure. Forbes named U2 the top-earning musical act over the preceding 12 months in 2011, at $195 million; that period-specific earnings figure cannot be substituted for cumulative touring gross across decades.
