The Deathly Hallows epilogue is set on 1 September 2017, nineteen years after the Battle of Hogwarts. Harry Potter is explicitly identified as 37; the official sources cited here do not establish exact ages for the other adults shown in the scene.
What does “the end” mean here?
The age snapshot is the “Nineteen Years Later” scene at King’s Cross, when the next generation boards the Hogwarts Express—not the Battle of Hogwarts itself. Wizarding World dates the epilogue to 1 September 2017 and describes it as a little over nineteen years after the battle. Wizarding World’s epilogue retrospective identifies that date as a significant day in the wizarding world.
Which characters’ ages are established?
Here, “main characters” means the adults at the center of the epilogue’s family send-off: Harry, Ginny, Ron, Hermione, and Draco. The sources establish an exact age for Harry, but not a complete official age list for the others.

Why is Harry’s age known while the others’ are unresolved?
Harry’s age is directly stated by two official franchise sources: the Wizarding World retrospective says he turned 37 in 2017, and the Broadway timeline calls him 37 in its “19 Years Later” section. Those sources do not provide a comparable exact age for Ginny, Ron, Hermione, or Draco on the epilogue date. A birthday-based calculation would require reliable birth-date evidence; without it, assigning a precise number would present an inference as an official fact.
Who else appears in the epilogue?
The three children starting their first year at Hogwarts are Albus Severus Potter, Rose Granger-Weasley, and Scorpius Malfoy. The recap also identifies Neville as Hogwarts’ Herbology professor in this period. Their roles help locate the scene in the story, but do not establish ages for the adult characters.

“Main character” can also mean the book series’ central trio—Harry, Ron, and Hermione. The franchise overview describes those three as the main characters, while the epilogue scene gives Ginny and Draco prominent family roles. Neither framing changes the age evidence: Harry is the only adult here whose exact age is stated by the cited official sources.
