What is the new Berserk arc?
In June 2022, Hakusensha’s Young Animal editorial department said that six episodes after the manga resumed would finish the Fantasia Arc, also known as the Elf Island Chapter. The announcement then stated, “After this, we will start a new arc.” That establishes the plan for the arc transition; it was not a separate announcement of a new return date in 2026. The publisher’s later English listing for Volume 43 gives readers a preview of the story’s next situation: after the devastation of Elf Island, the Seahorse crew enters Kushan waters, Guts is taken away in chains, and his companions are received as refugees. Kushan tribes debate whether to wage war against Falconia and Griffith. The publisher labels the volume for mature audiences. See Dark Horse’s Volume 43 listing.
Who is continuing Berserk after Kentaro Miura?
The continuation’s credits are “Original work by Kentaro Miura, Manga by Studio Gaga, Supervised by Kouji Mori.” Mori was Miura’s close friend and is himself a manga creator. The 2022 announcement said the team was drawing on conversations about future stories and episodes, as well as surviving notes and character designs.

The team also acknowledged a significant limit: Miura left no rough drafts that could be followed to reproduce his intended manuscript exactly. Mori said he would only write episodes Miura had discussed with him, would not expand those ideas, and would not write episodes he did not clearly remember. He described the guiding principle as “Mr. Miura said so.” This explains the stated basis and boundaries of the continuation; it is not a claim that the new chapters are indistinguishable from Miura’s own finished work. When does Berserk come back?
There is no fixed next-chapter date established by the latest dated reporting here. A report published August 21, 2026 says chapters 399, 400, and 401 ran in Young Animal issues dated June 12, June 26, and July 10, 2026, following a nine-month gap after chapter 398 in September 2025. The report describes an irregular pattern of short runs followed by months without a new chapter, so those dates should not be treated as a recurring timetable or a promise about chapter 402. Where can you read the latest chapters or catch up?
The August 2026 report identifies Young Animal Web and Piccoma as Japanese reading options, and Dark Horse as the English-edition publisher. Young Animal Web has offered a set number of episodes free after a waiting period, but access eligibility and terms can change; check the platform directly before relying on that option. The report does not establish a specific English digital chapter-release date.

In the June 2022 statement, Hakusensha said the first edition of Volume 1, published in 1990, had a print run of 28,000 copies, and that two million people around the world had read the volume by the time of the statement.
