TAPMAD TV launched in Karachi in late January 2017 as a mobile app for live television and on-demand video. Today, tapmad describes itself as an OTT streaming service, with entertainment and live sports; what viewers can watch depends on the event, territory, device and current plan.
When did TAPMAD TV launch in Pakistan?
TapMad TV launched in Karachi in late January 2017. Dawn reported on 1 February 2017 that the service had launched the previous week at Alliance Française in Karachi. Daily Times reported that its free Android and iOS application launched on Thursday, 26 January. The reports agree on the city and month; 26 January is the date specified by Daily Times.
What was the launch-era app?
At launch, TapMad TV was presented as a mobile television and video-on-demand app. Contemporary coverage described live channels alongside films, shows, documentaries and other programming. Dawn also reported an HDTV box as a way to watch the service on a television.
Tapmad TV CEO Yassir Pasha described launch-era recording and catch-up functions to Dawn: “The app also works as a DVR, and content can be recorded and downloaded to be watched within seven days”. These are descriptions of the service at launch, not confirmation that the same features or terms are available now.

The announced competitions included the National Champions Cup, Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, President’s Trophy, National T20 Cup, age-group tournaments and women’s tournaments. Tapmad’s 9 June 2026 World Cup announcement described free, ad-supported streams and premium subscriptions in Pakistan for that event. It said premium viewers would receive ad-free UHD viewing at 50+ FPS and announced multi-stream split-screen for Android TV apps. Those details apply to the event announcement and should not be assumed to describe every plan or sports stream.
Earlier distribution does not establish today’s availability in every market. A 2021 PCB release listed Tapmad TV in iOS, Android, Samsung TV and Android TV stores and described PSL 6 rights in Australia, MENA and the rest of the world under that release’s terms. How to check whether you can watch
- Check the event and territory: confirm that the competition is currently covered where you are. Rights announcements are often limited to a particular season and country.
- Check your device: consult Tapmad’s current app listing and your device’s app store. Past support for a platform does not prove the app remains available on it.
- Check access terms: verify whether the event is free or requires a subscription, and review the current plan’s ad and video-quality terms. Current subscription prices and detailed plan terms are not established here.
- For television viewing: Tapmad has identified Android TV support, and its World Cup announcement specified split-screen on Android TV apps. Confirm compatibility for your particular device and event before relying on that feature.
What the available audience figures do—and do not—show
Tapmad’s advertising page lists more than 7 million average monthly users and a 20-minute average app session duration, but does not visibly state the measurement period. Treat these as company-published figures with an unspecified period, not as independently verified current audience statistics. Tapmad’s advertising page.
