These episodes unfolded at different times and are not proof of a definitive list of Swift’s personal “enemies” or of ongoing private hostility.
Kanye West and Kim Kardashian: the dispute that began at the 2009 VMAs
The 2009 interruption
The public conflict between Swift and Kanye West is commonly traced to the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, when West interrupted Swift’s acceptance speech. The Los Angeles Times timeline places that moment at the beginning of the dispute’s public history.
The “Famous” lyric and the phone-call clips
The conflict escalated in 2016 around West’s song “Famous” and Kim Kardashian’s release of clips from a phone conversation between West and Swift. Their accounts of what was discussed and approved differed; those competing descriptions should not be treated as a settled, mutually agreed account of the call. Later references and what they establish
Rolling Stone Canada’s 2024 chronology follows the story through discussion of Swift’s song “thanK you aIMee.” Interpreting a song as directed at a particular person can be inferential, so that discussion does not by itself establish a current private relationship or prove enduring animosity.

Katy Perry: a reported rift followed by signs of a thaw
Coverage of the Swift–Perry rift links it to dancers who left Swift’s touring work to join Perry’s. The dispute also became a subject of public lyrical and social-media interpretation, but interpretations of songs and posts should not be mistaken for direct confirmation of every alleged motive. TIME’s timeline of the reported feud also describes a later olive-branch gesture. That public gesture is why the episode should not be presented as necessarily ongoing.
Nicki Minaj: a separate exchange over award nominations
In 2015, Swift and Nicki Minaj exchanged public social-media responses in the context of award nominations. Katy Perry also entered the conversation. TIME’s overview documents the exchange, but the episode supports describing a brief public clash—not a sustained personal feud.

What “Taylor Swift’s enemies” can—and cannot—mean
“Enemy” and “feud” are labels for public narratives, not verified descriptions of lasting private relationships. The available accounts support these prominent episodes and their public milestones; they do not establish an exhaustive roster of everyone Swift has disagreed with, or the current state of her relationships with the people involved. Song-target claims and fan theories should be kept separate from documented actions and attributed statements.
