Raphaël Graven, the French streamer known online as Jean Pormanove, died during a Kick livestream in August 2025. The reported autopsy finding said his death was not traumatic and was not linked to a third party, but it did not provide a definitive medical cause of death. Separate French proceedings addressed alleged violence involving streamers and Kick’s conduct; they should not be treated as the same case or as proof that abuse caused Graven’s death.
What happened to Jean Pormanove?
Graven died during a livestream on Kick in August 2025. Early coverage described broadcasts over preceding months as involving humiliation and abuse. Those descriptions concern the treatment shown or alleged in the broadcasts; they do not, by themselves, establish what medically caused his death.
How did the Kick streamer die?
The Nice prosecutor’s reported autopsy finding was that Graven’s death was “not traumatic” and “not linked to the intervention of a third party.” That finding is not a full medical account of the cause of death. The full autopsy was not available in the reporting summarized here, so public information does not establish a definitive medical cause.
What happened in the French proceedings?
Three strands need to be kept distinct: the inquiry into the death and alleged violence involving streamers, the reported convictions of two streamers over online violence and humiliation, and a separate Paris investigation concerning Kick and its managers.

| Proceeding | Date and authority | Subject | What is established |
|---|---|---|---|
| Inquiry into the death | Nice prosecutor’s office; the date and current procedural status are not stated in the available reporting | Graven’s death and alleged violence involving the streamers | The reported autopsy finding said the death was not traumatic and was not linked to a third party. It does not settle the separate allegations about preceding treatment. |
| Streamer convictions | 5 August 2026; reported by Le Monde | Two streamers and online violence and humiliation preceding Graven’s death | Le Monde reported that the two were convicted. The available reporting does not establish whether an appeal was filed or whether the convictions are final. |
| Investigation concerning Kick | Paris prosecutor’s office statement dated 27 January 2026 | Kick and its managers | The office said it had opened a judicial investigation after they did not attend summonses. Alleged offences, opaque financial arrangements and possible economic links between Kick and Graven’s channel are investigative questions, not findings of guilt. |
What the trial reporting says
Le Monde quoted prosecutor Maud Marty describing the conduct as “a system of human abuse, not just a slip or provocation” and saying, “violence is the content, it’s the storyline.” Those are the prosecutor’s reported characterizations of the case, not a medical explanation for Graven’s death.
Le Monde also reported monthly payments of about €6,000 each to the three streamers, including Graven. That figure is secondary reporting about the case, not an official financial finding.

Why the cases do not answer the same question
The Nice inquiry concerned the death and alleged violence; the reported convictions concerned online violence and humiliation; the Paris investigation concerns allegations about Kick and its managers. A finding or procedural step in one does not automatically determine the issues in another. In particular, the reported convictions do not establish that abuse caused Graven’s death, and the Paris investigation is not a conviction of Kick or its managers.
