What did Heidi Klum mean when she promised to be “ugly”?
In a PEOPLE interview published October 25, 2025, Klum said, “I’m going to be very ugly because I always try to do something different.” She mentioned her earlier peacock and worm costumes and contrasted the upcoming look with what she called the cute E.T. costume from the previous year. The interview teased the direction, but did not disclose the character.

Klum appeared as Medusa at her annual Halloween party in New York on October 31. The look included green scales, moving snakes and fangs. The Associated Press reported that Klum described her goal as “a really ugly, ugly Medusa” and said, “So I wanted to be really, really like a really ugly, ugly Medusa. And I feel like we nailed it — to the teeth,” pointing to the fangs.

The Associated Press’s November 1 report covered the reveal and Klum’s explanation. Us Weekly’s November 1 coverage also described moving snakes atop her head, a tail and hand-painted details. Klum said of the design, “Everything is hand-painted.”
How long did the costume take, and who joined the look?
Klum said she spent 10 hours getting into costume, according to the Associated Press. Us Weekly reported her estimate that about 15 people worked on it. Those are reported figures for this production, not general measures of how long Halloween costumes take to make.

Her husband, Tom Kaulitz, dressed as a man turned to stone, pairing his look with the Medusa theme. CBS News, citing the Associated Press, also reported the couple’s costumes in its November 1, 2025 coverage.

The Greek myth’s snake-haired figure gave Klum a way to deliver the unsettling transformation she had teased.
