Eva Evans was a New York City-focused TikTok creator and filmmaker who created, co-wrote, directed, and starred in Club Rat, a five-episode comedy series that debuted on Prime Video in 2023. Her sister announced Evans’s death in April 2024, when she was 29. In June, TMZ reported that a New York City medical examiner representative confirmed suicide as the cause of death.
Who was Eva Evans?
Evans was known for short-form commentary about life and culture in New York City. Scripps News reported that she had more than 300,000 TikTok followers in 2024; that was a time-specific reported count, not an independently audited figure. Scripps News’ April 22, 2024 report also described her as a TikTok star who chronicled her New York life.
The Daily Beast relayed a description from Evans’s website that characterized her work as New York-centric commentary on sex, relationships, fashion, pop culture, and subway etiquette. This was her website’s own description as reproduced by the publication, rather than a direct interview quote. The Daily Beast’s April 22, 2024 article preserves that account of her subject matter.
What was Club Rat?
Club Rat was a five-episode comedy series that debuted on Prime Video in 2023. Evans created, co-wrote, directed, and starred in it. The story follows an influencer attempting to return to New York City’s dating scene after a candid video of her humiliating breakup goes viral. E! News’ April 21, 2024 report identifies Noa Fisher and Marcela Avelina among the co-stars.
