Steve Miller Band canceled all of its planned 2025 tour dates in an announcement on July 16, 2025. The band said a range of severe-weather hazards made the risks to fans, musicians and crew unacceptable. It did not identify particular locations or weather events behind the decision, or announce replacement dates.
Why did Steve Miller Band cancel its 2025 tour?
The band attributed the cancellation to weather-related safety risks. In its announcement, it said: “The combination of extreme heat, unpredictable flooding, tornadoes, hurricanes and massive forest fires makes these risks for you our audience, the band and the crew unacceptable.” The Associated Press reported the statement on July 17, 2025.
That is the band’s stated rationale, not an independently verified finding that a particular storm, fire or other event caused the decision. The announcement did not say which hazards or locations were decisive.
Were all of the 2025 dates canceled?
Yes. The announcement covered all of the band’s upcoming 2025 tour dates. The planned U.S. run was expected to span August through November 2025 and include nearly three dozen stops. Contemporary reports differ on the exact opening date, so a single start date cannot be stated confidently from those accounts.

Did the band announce a rescheduled tour?
No future dates or venues were included in the announcement. The band wrote, “Don’t know where, don’t know when…We hope to see you all again.” That expressed hope to return, not a scheduled resumption. This account covers the July 2025 announcement and does not establish the band’s touring status in 2026.
What should ticket holders do about refunds?
The contemporary reporting does not give a general refund policy. Ticket holders should contact the original point of purchase or the venue for instructions about their specific canceled event; terms may vary by seller and event.

Weather safety context
Severe weather can affect whether an outdoor event proceeds, but the band did not describe a venue-by-venue safety plan. In general context quoted by the Associated Press, AccuWeather chief meteorologist Jonathan Porter said: “For example, the doors may open an hour late in order to ensure thunderstorms have moved sufficiently away from the venue so the show can go on safely.” That was an example of event-safety practice, not a plan announced by Steve Miller Band.
