1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsAt its July 25, 2024, San Diego Comic-Con panel, DC revealed an alternate-universe Batman who is young, physically imposing, and raised without the wealth and family life associated with the familiar Bruce Wayne. The new series also recasts Alfred as an MI6 agent hunting a target in Gotham and introduces a heavily armed Absolute Black Mask. Here’s what the panel established—and how DC’s later creator and publication details fill in the picture.
What did DC reveal about Absolute Batman at SDCC 2024?
The panel presented Absolute Batman as a substantial reinterpretation, not simply the familiar Bruce Wayne in a different costume. This Bruce grew up in Crime Alley rather than relying on his family’s fortune, mansion, and butler. DC’s later interview with writer Scott Snyder adds that he understands Gotham’s villains differently and embodies chaos and anarchy, in contrast to the familiar Batman’s association with systems and order. DC’s September 6, 2024 interview with Snyder provides that fuller context.
At the panel, Snyder and artist Nick Dragotta nicknamed the character “The Batman Who Lifts.” Contemporary coverage described him as in his 20s, six feet tall outside the suit and seven feet tall in it, and weighing 250 pounds. Those measurements are fictional-character details reported from the panel, not independently established specifications. ComicBook.com’s panel report also described Bruce as a city engineer and construction worker and mentioned a French bulldog with bat ears.
How is this Bruce Wayne different?
A city engineer shaped by Crime Alley
DC’s September profile describes Bruce as an engineer who wants to fix problems in his city. The panel account additionally called him a construction worker. The engineer description is the clearest concise description of his occupation, while the construction-worker detail comes from the contemporaneous panel coverage.

Snyder framed the character as more than a large, powerful fighter: he is a smart planner and “a big, primal beast,” a force of nature who refuses to accept that entrenched systems cannot change. In DC’s interview, Snyder put the difference this way: “This Batman comes up in Crime Alley. He knows the villains in a different way.” The full interview explains how that upbringing informs the new mythology.
A changed Alfred—and a first villain reveal
Rather than Bruce’s traditional butler, this story’s Alfred is a former MI6 agent. The panel report said he arrives in Gotham “hunting a target”; DC’s later profile describes him as a former MI6 agent and mercenary. The panel also revealed Absolute Black Mask, redesigned with a frightening mask and twin MAC-11s. These details were reported from the July 2024 presentation, rather than established as general attributes of the familiar Batman characters.
