Alice in Borderland Season 3 puts Arisu and Usagi through a Joker-stage tournament of eight challenges, from a lethal card game to a final contest about possible futures. Here is what each game involves and how its rules shape the story. Season 3 premiered globally on Netflix on September 25, 2025, and is streaming there; availability may vary by territory. Netflix Tudum’s season announcement describes the previously unseen Joker stage, and its finale explainer details the last game.
How Season 3 changes the game format
After Arisu and Usagi return to ordinary life, Banda draws them back toward Borderland. Arisu enters again to find Usagi. Rather than choosing from the familiar card stages, the remaining Joker challenge unfolds as a tournament with a set sequence of increasingly dangerous games. The season is an original continuation of the live-action story after the manga-based earlier seasons; Netflix confirms the series is based on Haro Aso’s manga, but the available sources do not establish that these exact Season 3 games appear in the manga.

The earlier card suits broadly signal different challenges: Diamonds test reasoning, Clubs teamwork, Hearts psychological conflict, and Spades physical ability. Season 3’s tournament mixes those pressures instead of presenting one suit at a time. The descriptions below explain what the show depicts, not instructions for playing these deadly fictional contests.
All the games in Alice in Borderland Season 3
1. Old Maid — Episode 1
Players draw and discard pairs around a table. The danger is concentrated in the Joker: whoever holds it at the end—or tries to leave their seat—faces fatal electrocution. Ryuji survives as the winner. The game takes the recognizable premise of Old Maid and turns it into a lethal opening elimination.

2. Sacred Fortunes — Episode 2
Players draw fortune slips and must interpret them accurately within a one-minute limit. Wrong answers trigger fire arrows. The slips are not merely trivia prompts: their clues can help players survive, and a good-fortune message points Arisu toward an underground escape. The challenge rewards reading information carefully under immediate pressure.
3. Zombie Hunt — Episodes 2–3
Players split into teams and face repeated one-on-one matches using suit-specific cards. Zombie, Shotgun, and Vaccine cards alter team membership and the group’s survival strategy. The contest runs for 20 rounds; according to the episode recap, the team with the fewest survivors is wiped out. Arisu’s group turns the infection mechanic into a tactic by becoming zombies together.
Rank #2
4. Runaway Train — Episodes 3–4
Players move through eight locked train cars, deciding when to use gas masks and limited canisters as they encounter oxygen or poison. They cannot go back, and a timer adds urgency. Survival depends on inferring what lies ahead and coordinating decisions while information is incomplete.
5. Tokyo Bingo Tower — Episode 4
Teams climb Tokyo Tower and press numbered buzzers to complete vertical, horizontal, and diagonal bingo lines. They must also reach the top “FREE” position. Metal balls threaten climbers as the board fills, making the route to each number a physical hazard as well as a strategic choice. Usagi’s climbing ability becomes central to her team’s attempt.

- Movie dvd
Do not confuse this contest’s metal-ball hazards with the flaming arrows in the shrine scene. Netflix’s official announcement calls out that shrine sequence; actor Kento Yamazaki, who plays Arisu, said: “When I read the manga, I was blown away by the flaming arrows, so when I saw the script for this scene, I thought, ‘It’s here!’”
6. Kick the Can — Episode 4
Contestants must return time-bomb cans to their bases before they detonate. The episode recap describes ten cans, which limits how many players can clear; throwing a can also makes it explode. Players have to relay cans while rivals fight over them, turning a simple-seeming physical task into a contest over timing, cooperation, and control.
Rank #4
7. Possible Futures — Episodes 5–6
The final group game takes place across a grid of 25 rooms arranged five by five. Dice determine how many players can pass through each colored door. Every player starts with 15 points; moving and waiting cost points, and some rooms impose additional deductions. The doors show possible futures, while a player whose points reach zero is eliminated.
That combination makes the challenge a joint problem rather than a straightforward race. Players must navigate dice-limited movement and shrinking personal reserves while weighing their own prospects against the group’s ability to survive. Netflix Tudum’s explanation of the ending describes the room, dice, door, and point mechanics.

8. The final hand with the Watchman — Episode 6
After Possible Futures, Arisu faces the Watchman in a two-card choice. The Watchman describes the Joker as a construct associated with completing the deck, rather than simply the person who serves as the final opponent. Arisu chooses to return to life and moves to save Usagi. The survivors return to the real world. The closing image suggests that Borderland’s mythology could continue, but it does not confirm another season.

The contests can be compared by the kind of pressure they put on players, though this is a way to read the season rather than Netflix’s formal classification.
| Game | Primary pressure | Information and stakes |
|---|---|---|
| Old Maid | Observation and nerve | A clear card premise; holding the Joker at the end or leaving the seat is fatal. |
| Sacred Fortunes | Interpretation under time pressure | Clues may help players survive; wrong answers trigger fire arrows. |
| Zombie Hunt | Team strategy | Cards change team membership over 20 rounds; the team with the fewest survivors is wiped out. |
| Runaway Train | Inference and coordination | Players must act on uncertain danger with limited supplies and no chance to go back. |
| Tokyo Bingo Tower | Climbing and team coordination | Teams need bingo lines and the top “FREE” position while navigating physical hazards. |
| Kick the Can | Speed, relaying, and control | Ten cans limit who can clear; a thrown can explodes. |
| Possible Futures | Collaborative navigation and resource management | Dice restrict movement; point losses accumulate, and reaching zero eliminates a player. |
| Watchman’s final hand | Choice and trust | A two-card decision frames Arisu’s return to life. |
Across the tournament, a mistake can mean immediate death, damage to a team’s position, or a gradual loss of points. Possible Futures makes that last form especially visible: each player’s survival resource is personal, but choices have consequences for the group.
What the Joker game means in the finale
The season treats the Joker stage as a tournament with a fixed progression, then gives the Joker a more symbolic role in the Watchman’s explanation. The Watchman is not simply revealed as the person who must be beaten to finish the deck. Instead, the Joker is described as a construct tied to completing it. Arisu’s final choice resolves his and Usagi’s immediate return to life, while the closing image leaves the wider Borderland story open without promising a continuation.
