A three-inch Flamin’ Hot Cheeto described as resembling Pokémon’s Charizard sold through Goldin in March 2025 for a reported $87,840, including the buyer’s premium. The winning bid was reported as $72,000—not $87,840—and the buyer’s identity was not reported.
What was Cheetozard?
Cheetozard was an ordinary Flamin’ Hot Cheeto presented as an unusual collectible, not an official Pokémon product or a Pokémon card. Goldin’s lot description, reproduced by Nerdist and Deseret News, called it “a 3-inch long Flamin’ Hot Cheeto in the shape of the Pokémon Charizard.” Nerdist reported that Goldin said it had been found in that shape and had not been modified.
The lot was affixed to a customized Pokémon card and placed in a clear card-storage box. Goldin’s description identifies the card and box as presentation, not as proof that the snack was an officially licensed item or independently authenticated.
How much did the Charizard Cheeto sell for?
Goldin’s completed sale was reported at $87,840 including the buyer’s premium. Indian Express reported a $72,000 winning bid on March 2, 2025, and 60 bids; Deseret News, citing the Associated Press, also reported 60 bids. Indian Express said the auction opened at $250. Those figures describe different parts of the auction, so the winning bid should not be presented as the final total.

Where did it come from?
The lot description said 1st & Goal Collectibles discovered and preserved the Cheeto sometime between 2018 and 2022; the cited accounts do not give one definitive discovery date. It drew social-media attention in late 2024 before appearing in Goldin’s February 2025 Pop Culture Elite Auction.
Why would someone pay nearly $88,000 for a Cheeto?
The sale shows that bidders were willing to compete for this particular novelty collectible; it does not establish a normal market value for snacks, Pokémon merchandise, or food that resembles characters. The reporting does not identify the winning buyer or establish that buyer’s motivation, so claims that the purchase was driven by investment, fandom, or publicity would be speculation.

Collector’s Hub owner Megan Giatroudakis told Cowboy State Daily she was “stunned” by the price. She also said Pokémon merchandise was difficult for her store to keep in stock—an individual retailer’s observation, not a measured market statistic.
Was this the first Cheeto to attract a huge bid?
No, but a heavily publicized earlier example should not be confused with a completed sale. Cowboy State Daily reported that an eBay listing for a Harambe-shaped Cheeto drew bids approaching $100,000 in 2017 before eBay removed the auction. The report does not establish that anyone paid that amount. Cheetozard’s reported Goldin sale, by contrast, was completed.

Cheetozard is a memorable one-off auction story, but the available reporting does not provide an independent authentication report, a repeatable valuation method, or enough completed comparable sales to establish a price range for similar objects. Its $87,840 reported total is a record of this specific auction, not a reliable estimate of what another character-shaped snack would fetch.
