Denise Richards said she believed her breast implants were damaged during a bridge-jump challenge on Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test. She later had them removed: Bravo reported on August 29, 2025, that she had undergone removal after learning they had ruptured. The reported account does not include medical records or an independent clinician’s explanation of how the rupture occurred.
What happened to Denise Richards on Special Forces?
Richards connected the implant injury to a bridge jump during filming of season three. In comments from SiriusXM’s Jeff Lewis Live, reported by TV Insider on January 5, 2025, she said, “I jumped off a bridge … and that’s when I ruptured my implants, off of that thing.” She attributed the damage to the harness. TV Insider’s January 5 report said season three premiered on Fox on January 8, 2025.
That is Richards’ account of when she believed the damage happened, not an independently established medical cause. The cited reporting does not identify her implant type or describe imaging or other diagnostic results.
What did Richards say about her hernia and implant surgery?
In an interview published by Entertainment Weekly on January 10, 2025, Richards discussed two separate issues. She said she had previously had four hernias repaired and experienced swelling around that area after the challenge. The swelling went down, and she said she did not need another hernia operation. Separately, she said, “I still have to have surgery with my implants.” At that point, she had not had downtime for the procedure and was considering removal or replacement. Did Denise Richards have her breast implants removed?
Yes. Bravo reported on August 29, 2025, that Richards had her implants removed. Its account referred to an Instagram post she made on August 27 and said the procedure was performed by Dr. Robert Cohen at Beverly Hills Center. Richards described her choice as personal: “Please know this is simply what felt best for me at this time.” She also wrote, “After over a year of struggling with issues involving my implants, I finally feel healthy and confident in my body.” Bravo’s August 29, 2025 update.
What her story does—and does not—say about implant rupture
Richards’ experience should not be read as proof that a harness, jump, or particular kind of impact generally causes implant rupture. The reports do not provide clinical records, identify her implants as silicone or saline, or include a treating clinician’s account of the injury or diagnosis.

For general context, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration lists rupture among breast implant complications. It says rupture of a silicone gel-filled implant may be silent; MRI is the most effective method for detecting silent rupture, while ultrasound is an acceptable screening alternative for asymptomatic patients. Those points are general FDA guidance, not information about Richards’ implant type, diagnosis, or care. FDA: Risks and complications of breast implants.
