Its synopsis identifies Igris as Sian Halat, a noble knight betrayed by rivals and later resurrected by the Shadow Monarch.
What is Igris’s backstory?
The available chapter synopsis calls the release “another narrative of Igris” and “the original story of ‘Sian Halat.’” It describes Sian as a noble knight who swore loyalty to his lord and drew jealousy because of the king’s favor. Meristation’s May 2026 account adds that he was a knight captain targeted by rivals, recounting a scheme involving his wife and soldiers. In that reported backstory, noble plotting leads to his death; the Shadow Monarch later resurrects him.
The broad outline is also consistent with Netmarble’s official Solo Leveling: ARISE character profile, which describes Sian as “A knight from another world” who was killed through noble schemes and brought back by the Shadow Monarch. The more detailed account of the betrayal comes from secondary reporting, not readable text on the official chapter page.
Is this a new chapter of the original Solo Leveling manhwa?
No: the available evidence points to Hunter Origin #25, an ARISE-associated origin one-shot, rather than a new installment in the mainline comic. The distinction matters because “Igris’s origin” can refer to this separate character feature, while the original comic is the story published in collected volumes and through its official digital edition.

How does ARISE connect Sian Halat to Igris?
Netmarble’s 2026 ARISE update identifies Sian Halat as Igris and describes Igris as one of the Shadow Army’s elite commanders. It also calls him one of Sung Jinwoo’s first shadow soldiers. The origin feature supplies the former-life framing: Sian was a knight from another world before becoming the character readers know as Igris.
That connection explains why the release is relevant to Igris fans, but it does not make the feature a mainline comic chapter. The cited sources establish the character association and reported backstory; they do not establish broader continuity details between the one-shot and the original comic.
