The film’s reliably identified symbiotes are Venom, Jim and Lasher—but that is not a complete confirmed roster. Production sources name Jim and Lasher by their designs, while several other creatures remain unidentified. The distinction matters: a color or resemblance to a comic-book character is not proof of a film character’s identity.
What are the symbiote names in Venom: The Last Dance?
The available story and production sources establish these names with different levels of confidence:
| Symbiote | What is established | Identity confidence |
|---|---|---|
| Venom | Bonded to Eddie Brock and central to the story. | Story-confirmed |
| Jim | Production VFX supervisor Aharon Bourland identifies Jim as the copper-brown bruiser, designed with powerful punching fists. | Production-named |
| Lasher | Bourland identifies Lasher as the green-red symbiote, designed as a quick, slashing attacker. | Production-named |
| Other creatures | The film shows additional symbiotes, but the sources do not establish a confirmed name for each one. | Uncertain |
In a The Art of VFX interview dated 18 November 2024, Bourland described the approach to adapting the comic designs: “Each symbiote started with research into their comic book versions, and from there, we evolved those into ‘hero’ versions that fit the story.” That process helps explain why familiar visual cues may not be enough to identify a film version.
Venom and Eddie Brock: the bond behind the Codex
Venom is bonded to Eddie Brock, and their connection drives the stakes of the film. Netflix Tudum’s plot summary says the Codex was created when Venom resurrected Eddie. Knull wants the Codex, and the Xenophages pursue Eddie and Venom because of it.

- In Venom: The Last Dance, Tom Hardy returns as Venom, one of Marvel?s greatest and most complex characters, for the final film in the trilogy. Eddie and Venom are on the run. Hunted by both of their worlds and with the net closing in, the duo are forced into a devastating decision that will bring the curtains down on Venom and Eddie's last dance.
The Codex is not simply another creature or a separate symbiote. It is tied to the bond between Eddie and Venom, making that relationship the target of Knull’s plan.
Who is Knull?
Knull is presented as the creator of the symbiotes and a prisoner of them. TIME’s spoiler explainer says he sends a Xenophage after Eddie and Venom because their connection—and the Codex—is key to his freedom. The Associated Press review also describes Knull as the symbiote creator and the Codex as a danger to humans and symbiotes if he obtains it.

In the ending, Venom sacrifices himself to stop the Xenophages and prevent Knull’s release, according to TIME. The mid-credits scene returns to Knull, keeping the character in play; it does not by itself confirm a particular future film.
Is the green symbiote Toxin or Lasher?
Lasher is the production-confirmed name for the green-red symbiote Bourland describes. That does not establish that every green-looking symbiote—or the green symbiote associated with Patrick Mulligan—is Lasher or Toxin. The available sources do not settle Mulligan’s symbiote identity, so calling it Toxin as a confirmed film fact goes beyond what they establish.

For the same reason, avoid identifying background creatures solely by color, silhouette or resemblance to comic-book designs. The production interview names Jim and Lasher, but it does not supply a confirmed roster for every brief appearance.

Sony describes Venom: The Last Dance as the final film in the trilogy and credits Kelly Marcel as director and screenwriter, from a story by Marcel and Tom Hardy. Neither that official description nor the cited production interview names every symbiote seen in the film. The careful answer to “every symbiote” is therefore a confirmed short list plus an explicit unknown category—not a speculative catalogue.

That boundary also keeps the film’s versions distinct from comic-book identities: Bourland says the designs began with research into the comics, then evolved to fit the story. Where a source does not name a creature, its cinematic identity remains unconfirmed.
