Drive alone does not broadcast anything: an encoder or cloud streaming service must read the files and send a live feed to YouTube. Before going live, confirm you have the rights to rebroadcast every recording and visual.
Before you start: enable YouTube live streaming
YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Its current guidance sets the minimum age for live streaming at 16. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before your intended launch. See YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance and live-streaming eligibility details.
Prepare the bhajan files in Google Drive
Install and sign in to Google Drive for desktop on the computer that will run your encoder. Make a clearly named folder for the recordings and any visuals, then open each file on that computer to confirm it plays. A computer-based encoder needs reliable access to its source files throughout the broadcast.
Choose between mirroring and streaming files
- Mirror files: Drive keeps the files in the cloud and on the computer, so they are available offline by default. This is the more predictable choice for a local broadcast library, but it uses local disk space.
- Stream files: Files are stored primarily in the cloud, using less local disk space. They are online-only unless you make them available offline. Access depends on Drive for desktop running; shared drives can only be streamed. If you choose this mode, mark the source files or folder available offline and test playback before relying on it.
Google explains these options in its Drive for desktop file-streaming and mirroring guidance. If the computer lacks room for a mirrored or offline-ready library, an external SSD is one possible way to add storage; choose capacity based on the actual size of your files.

Choose how to keep the stream running
Local computer and encoder
A local encoder reads the Drive-synced or offline-ready files and sends the live program to YouTube. The computer, its internet connection, and the encoder must remain running for the broadcast to continue. YouTube describes encoders as the route for advanced live streams and documents the connection process in its encoder setup instructions.
Cloud streaming service
A cloud service runs the streaming workflow remotely, so you do not have to keep a local encoder computer on continuously. YouTube’s encoder documentation lists Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 live streaming of prerecorded videos. That listing does not establish current pricing, service guarantees, file-ingestion options, or an endorsement; check the provider’s current terms and confirm how it accesses your Drive files before choosing it.
Set up a local encoder with YouTube Live
- Open YouTube Studio and Live Control Room. Create or schedule a live stream. If YouTube asks you to activate live streaming for the first time, allow for the activation delay.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key. Enter both in the encoder’s YouTube or custom RTMP destination fields. The stream key is a credential that tells YouTube where to accept the feed; keep it private. Anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to that stream configuration. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions explain how to reset a compromised key.
- Choose the program source. In your encoder, select the bhajan video or playlist. Configure the playlist to repeat, and check that playback does not stop at the end or introduce an unintended blank screen, silence, or gap. The exact loop controls vary by encoder; YouTube’s connection guide does not prescribe a universal playlist setup.
- Start the encoder and check the preview. Wait for the feed to appear in Live Control Room before making it public. Confirm that the picture and sound are correct, and check the stream-health information.
- Run a test before the full broadcast. Where appropriate, use an unlisted or scheduled test. Watch from another device, check that the playlist transitions as expected, and let enough of the sequence play to catch volume changes or playback problems. YouTube recommends testing the setup and leaving headroom in upload bandwidth.
Do not assume a stream key is interchangeable across configurations: use the key shown for the stream you created or scheduled. YouTube’s stream health and live-control guidance covers preview and monitoring.

Keep the bhajan playlist available and consistent
- Use a folder containing only the approved recordings and visuals for this broadcast, so an accidental file is less likely to enter the playlist.
- For a local encoder, mirror the folder or explicitly make it available offline if you use Drive’s streaming mode. Confirm the computer can still play the files if the internet connection to Drive is unavailable.
- Check the entire playlist cycle, or enough of it to verify repeat behavior, transitions, and consistent audio levels. Looping and gap behavior depend on the chosen encoder.
- Monitor the Live Control Room and the public watch page during the broadcast. A test is useful, but it is not a guarantee of uninterrupted operation.
Check copyright and YouTube live policies
A bhajan’s devotional or traditional subject does not automatically clear a specific recording for rebroadcast. Rights may differ for the recording, performance, arrangement, lyrics, and visuals. YouTube says the creator must hold the rights needed for live content, including music licensing rights. Its Livestream terms and conditions state: “You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.”
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content matches. If it identifies a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder image, warn you, temporarily interrupt the feed, or terminate it if the issue remains. A license does not necessarily prevent an interruption: a rights owner may need to allowlist your channel through Content ID. Review YouTube’s live-streaming copyright guidance and obtain the permissions that apply to your specific material before broadcasting.
Plan the archive for a continuous broadcast
YouTube’s encoder instructions say streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. A 24/7 broadcast is longer than that, so do not plan on receiving one complete archive of the entire continuous stream. If a complete recording or separately viewable sessions matter, decide whether shorter scheduled broadcasts better fit your needs and consult YouTube’s current archive guidance before launch.

Troubleshoot common problems
The channel cannot go live
Check that the channel is verified, has no live-streaming restriction in YouTube’s previous 90-day eligibility window, and has completed live-stream activation. First-time activation may take up to 24 hours.
The encoder cannot find or play a Drive file
Confirm Drive for desktop is signed in and running, the file is available on the computer, and the path selected in the encoder is correct. In streaming mode, make the file or folder available offline and test playback again.
The feed does not appear in Live Control Room
Check that the encoder is using the stream URL and key for the stream you created, and that its connection has started. Keep the key private; if it may have been exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.

The playlist stops, goes silent, or shows a blank screen
Check the playlist order and repeat setting in the encoder, then play through the end-to-start transition. Confirm each source file opens and that the selected visual source remains active during audio-only portions.
The stream is interrupted by a copyright match
Review the identified material and confirm you have the rights required for live use. If you are licensed, ask the relevant rights owner whether your channel needs Content ID allowlisting. YouTube may still interrupt a live feed while a match is being addressed.
The stream preview is unstable or the broadcast drops
Check the Live Control Room stream-health status, encoder connection, and available upload bandwidth. YouTube recommends leaving bandwidth headroom and testing before launch. If using a local computer, also check that it has not gone to sleep and that the local network remains available.
