If YouTube audio doesn’t match the picture, first check whether the YouTube video, playback route, or connected sound system is causing the delay. Replay the same passage, compare another video and app, and test the TV’s own speakers if possible. The instructions below depend on whether you are casting from Chrome, using a Google TV Streamer, or adjusting a Samsung or LG TV; they are not Astra-specific fixes.
First, identify where the YouTube audio delay occurs
- Replay the same passage and note whether the sound is ahead of the picture or behind it, and whether the offset stays constant.
- Try another YouTube video, then another app. If available, compare the TV speakers with a soundbar or receiver.
- Record the playback route: YouTube app on the TV, Chrome casting, or an external streaming device. Note the TV and sound equipment models and software versions before changing settings.
If only one video or channel has a sound mismatch, the problem may be specific to that source. LG says a sync problem confined to a particular channel is highly likely to be a broadcast-signal issue. If multiple apps or sources are affected, investigate the shared TV, audio equipment, connection, or playback device.
Check what “Astra Streaming” refers to
The Astra help page identified here describes Astra 1.4.0 for Fire TV running Vega OS 1.2 or later. It documents Astra as a client for a Jellyfin server; it does not establish that Astra supports YouTube or provide an Astra-specific YouTube audio-sync fix. Do not apply menu instructions for a different TV or streaming device as if they were Astra settings. For exact menu names, check the manual for your hardware and software version.
If you are casting YouTube from Chrome
Google’s Chrome-casting guidance recommends restarting the cast path and checking the physical setup:

- Stop casting, close the Chrome tab, reopen the tab and the same content, then cast again.
- Close battery-draining or resource-heavy applications on the computer.
- Keep the computer, Wi-Fi router, and Google streaming device within 5–6 metres (15–20 feet) of one another, ideally in the same room.
- Reboot the Google streaming device by disconnecting it from power for about one minute, then reconnect it. Removing it from the TV’s HDMI port alone does not reboot it.
These steps apply to casting content from Chrome, not necessarily to YouTube running in a TV’s native app or another streaming device.
If you use Google TV Streamer
Google’s device-specific guidance addresses the audio chain as well as the streamer. Check the following in order, using the device manuals for exact menu names:

- Check the HDMI cable and eARC arrangement between the streamer, TV, and any receiver or soundbar.
- Restart the Google TV Streamer. Look for an audio-offset adjustment on the TV, receiver, or soundbar.
- Set the streamer’s audio output format to Automatic. Google cautions that manually selected Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Digital, or PCM stereo requires compatible connected equipment.
- Turn off Dialogue enhancement and Volume leveller, then test with surround sound disabled.
- If needed, reboot the router and test again.
Google specifies an Ultra High Speed HDMI 2.1 certified cable for its Google TV Streamer setup. That is a setup requirement to consider if you use this particular device; it is not evidence that a new cable will fix YouTube audio sync in other setups.
Adjust the TV’s audio delay only when the symptom fits
Samsung TV
Samsung UK’s instructions for supported TVs give this path: Settings > Sound > Expert Settings > Digital Output Audio Delay. If sound is faster than the picture, increase the delay by moving the slider to the right. Samsung notes that wireless streaming can introduce sync delays and recommends checking supported codecs and software updates. Menu names and availability vary by model and software version.

LG TV
For webOS 6.0 or later, LG documents All Settings > Sound > Advanced Settings > Match Screen and Sound. Bypass sends sound without delay. If the mismatch remains, turn Bypass off and adjust TV Speaker Delay carefully. For webOS 5.0 or earlier, LG documents AV Sync Adjustment and a Bypass option. Applicability varies by model; LG’s guidance limits the described eARC/ARC arrangements to TV speakers or supported Sound Share devices.
Other TVs and sound systems
Look in the TV, receiver, or soundbar manual for an audio delay, lip-sync, or AV-sync control. The useful adjustment depends on the direction of the mismatch: increasing delay can help when sound arrives before the picture, but can worsen a delay in which sound already arrives late. Change settings in small increments and retest the same passage.

Retest before keeping a change
After the sound matches the picture, try another video or app and, if relevant, switch back to your usual audio output. A global delay intended to correct one playback route can create a mismatch elsewhere. If the problem remains limited to one program or channel, avoid compensating for it with a permanent setting that affects all playback.
Troubleshooting: symptom, likely scope, and next step
