Yes—if the part that publishes the stream to YouTube runs somewhere other than your PC. IRL Pro can send a phone feed to a hosted Cloud OBS service that handles the YouTube output. The phone and hosted encoder must remain connected; the home computer can be off if it is not part of the stream chain.
Which part has to stay online?
Think of the setup as a chain: IRL Pro on the phone sends video to an encoder, and that encoder publishes the broadcast to YouTube. The device or service doing the final YouTube output must stay online. Enhanced IRL’s streaming guide distinguishes using OBS on a home PC from using Cloud OBS.
- If OBS on your home PC sends the broadcast to YouTube, that PC must stay on and connected.
- If a hosted Cloud OBS service receives the phone feed and publishes it to YouTube, the hosted encoder replaces the home PC in that role.
- A relay that only receives or forwards the phone feed does not, by itself, remove the PC requirement if OBS at home still pulls the feed and publishes it.
IRL Pro is the phone-side sender in the hosted setup, not a guarantee that every configuration will keep a channel live with the PC off. Enhanced IRL documents IRL Pro for Android and says it supports RTMP and SRT; check that the input service accepts the protocol you choose. When comparing services, check whether the provider offers a complete cloud encoder and YouTube output or only an ingest relay. Also confirm that its input supports your IRL Pro protocol and review the provider’s current limits and price; those vary by service.

Set up IRL Pro with hosted Cloud OBS
- Check YouTube eligibility. YouTube says your channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the prior 90 days. Review Get started with live streaming before scheduling a broadcast.
- Confirm the hosted service can publish. Look for Cloud OBS or an equivalent always-on encoder with a YouTube output destination. An ingest relay alone is not enough if it leaves the final OBS-to-YouTube step on your PC.
- Configure the phone input. In IRL Pro on Android, enter the hosted service’s input or publish URL and any required input credentials. Select RTMP or SRT only if the service supports the same protocol. Follow the service’s instructions for its input key; it is not your YouTube broadcast key.
- Configure YouTube as the output. In the hosted service dashboard, choose YouTube and enter the platform stream URL and broadcast key from YouTube Live Control Room. YouTube’s encoder setup guide explains where these values fit in the workflow. Keep the phone-side input credentials separate from the YouTube output key.
- Start and verify the broadcast. Start the Cloud OBS stream from the hosted service dashboard, then check the YouTube Live Control Room preview and live state. The precise start-button behavior can depend on the YouTube encoder stream configuration.
- Test before turning off the PC. Confirm that the phone feed reaches the hosted encoder and that YouTube receives the output. Once verified, the home PC can be off only if it is not still pulling, encoding, or publishing the stream.
Keep the connection reliable
The cloud encoder removes the home PC as a dependency, but it does not remove the need for a stable phone uplink or an available hosted service. YouTube recommends upload bandwidth with 20% headroom beyond the total stream bitrate and warns that connectivity disruption can break a stream. This is platform guidance, not a guarantee of uninterrupted service. See YouTube’s streaming tips.
- Check the phone’s connection and the hosted service’s input status during a test.
- Confirm YouTube’s preview and live indicator rather than assuming that a successful phone connection means the channel is live.
- If the stream drops, identify which link failed: phone-to-hosted-service input, hosted encoder, or hosted-service-to-YouTube output.
Common problems and fixes
- YouTube stays offline although IRL Pro is connected: The phone may be reaching an ingest relay while no encoder is publishing to YouTube. Confirm that the hosted service has a Cloud OBS/output function and that its YouTube output is started.
- The hosted service does not receive the phone feed: Check that the input URL and credentials match the service, and that the selected RTMP or SRT protocol is supported at both ends.
- YouTube rejects the output or shows no preview: Recheck the YouTube stream URL and broadcast key in the hosted output settings. Do not substitute the service’s separate input key.
- The channel stops when the PC is shut down: OBS on the PC may still be the final encoder, or the hosted output may not have been started. Verify the actual publishing path in the dashboard and Live Control Room before powering down.
- The broadcast becomes unstable or disconnects: Check the phone uplink and available bandwidth against the stream bitrate, keeping YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom where possible.
