XSplit Broadcaster Playlist Transitions for a YouTube Radio Stream

XSplit Broadcaster supports custom transition and looping effects for Video Playlist, but its public setup instructions do not show the exact playlist controls. Here is how to add the source and distinguish it from scene and YouTube transitions.

To add a video playlist in XSplit Broadcaster, choose Add source > Scene Widgets > Video Playlist, add your local video files in the source properties, and save. XSplit says Video Playlist supports custom transition and looping effects, but its public setup instructions do not identify the playlist-specific controls or give a transition procedure. Check the controls in your installed version rather than assuming a scene transition setting controls how one playlist video changes to the next.

Set up the Video Playlist source

  1. In the scene you intend to use for the radio stream, select Add source > Scene Widgets > Video Playlist.
  2. Open the Video Playlist source properties, choose Add, select the local video files you want in the playlist, then choose Ok to save it.
  3. With the playlist source selected, inspect its own properties in your installed XSplit version. XSplit describes the source as supporting custom transition and looping effects, but its public setup article does not enumerate the playlist controls or say which labels, effects, or timing values to use. Confirm the available controls in the app before configuring them.
  4. Keep the playlist source in the scene intended for the radio stream. A scene transition may be useful when you switch into or out of that scene, but it is a separate setting from the playlist’s behavior between videos.
  5. Configure YouTube output separately if you are streaming there. XSplit’s YouTube setup information describes Manual Transition as a way to control broadcast status through YouTube Live Control Panel; it is not a transition effect between playlist entries.

Which XSplit transition do you mean?

“Transition” can refer to three different things in this workflow. Identify what should change before looking for a setting:

What changes Where the relevant control belongs What is documented
The video or item played by the Video Playlist The Video Playlist source’s own properties XSplit says the source supports custom transition and looping effects, but its public setup article does not spell out the controls or a configuration sequence.
The scene shown in XSplit The transition dropdown above the scene list, or the Transition Manager for scene-to-scene overrides XSplit lists fades, wipes, zooms, stingers, and luma transitions for scene changes. Transition Manager overrides are disabled by default; when enabled, an override takes priority over a favorite selected from a scene’s context menu.
The broadcast’s live status YouTube output settings and YouTube Live Control Panel XSplit’s YouTube Manual Transition option controls broadcast status. It does not set the effect between playlist videos.

What source Effects and Macros can—and cannot—tell you

XSplit documents that many sources can have a source transition selected and timed under the source’s Effects tab. That documentation does not establish that this setting is the same as the Video Playlist’s custom transition effect, or explain how the two interact. Treat them as separate unless the current app or documentation confirms otherwise.

XSplit’s Macros extension documents events such as When a media source stops and actions such as Set scene transition and Set media source playback state. The playback-state action works on audio and video media sources. These are documented automation primitives, not documentation of a Macro action that configures Video Playlist item transitions.

  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.

  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Media compatibility is not broadcast permission

XSplit’s image, video, and audio source help lists common formats including MP4, WEBM, and MP3, and describes adding media sources with playback controls in their properties. A file playing successfully does not mean you have permission to broadcast it. Confirm that you have the necessary rights for every track, recording, and video in a public YouTube stream; the cited XSplit help does not establish whether a particular file is cleared for broadcast.

Check YouTube Live eligibility before scheduling

XSplit’s YouTube setup page says the channel must be verified and must not have had a live-stream restriction in the prior 90 days. It also says first-time live-stream enablement may take up to 24 hours. These are statements in XSplit’s setup guidance; check the current YouTube and XSplit requirements before relying on them, because platform rules can change.

Troubleshoot the transition you are trying to make

  • The playlist plays, but you cannot find a between-video transition control: Open the Video Playlist source’s own properties and inspect the installed version. XSplit documents custom playlist transition effects but does not publish the specific control labels or steps in the setup article. Do not substitute the scene transition dropdown without confirming it affects playlist items.
  • The scene changes with an effect, but playlist entries do not: The scene transition dropdown and Transition Manager handle scene-to-scene changes. Look in the playlist source properties for playlist playback behavior instead.
  • A Transition Manager override does not match the scene’s favorite transition: Check whether an override is enabled. XSplit says enabled overrides take priority over a favorite chosen from a scene’s context menu; overrides are disabled by default.
  • You are looking at YouTube Manual Transition to make a video fade into the next: That option concerns broadcast status through YouTube Live Control Panel. It is not the playlist’s between-video effect.
  • A Macro changes scenes but not playlist transitions: The documented Macro actions include setting a scene transition and changing media-source playback state, but do not document an action for setting Video Playlist item transitions.
  • A media file plays but you are unsure whether it can be streamed: Check the rights for the recording and its contents separately. Format compatibility is not a rights clearance.
