You can stream a vMix playlist to YouTube whether or not your Google Account has 2-Step Verification enabled, provided your channel is eligible for live streaming. YouTube channel verification for livestreaming and Google Account 2-Step Verification are separate: the first enables live streaming; the second adds a sign-in security factor. For the stream, prepare the playlist in vMix, connect it to YouTube through YouTube Studio or vMix’s YouTube destination, then preview and monitor the broadcast.
First, distinguish YouTube verification from 2-Step Verification
YouTube’s general livestream guidance identifies channel verification and eligibility as the relevant prerequisites; it does not describe Google Account 2-Step Verification as a universal requirement. YouTube says a channel must be verified for live streaming and must not have live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Verify your YouTube account covers channel verification, while YouTube live streaming tips covers livestream eligibility and preparation.
Google Account 2-Step Verification is a separate account-security setting. Your employer, channel owner, or organization may require it under its own security policy, but that is different from YouTube’s general livestream eligibility. If you enable it, use Google’s current account-security guidance and keep your recovery options available; the sources cited here do not establish a specific current setup sequence for that setting.
Prepare the playlist in vMix
Add the video files you want to play as vMix inputs and arrange them as a playlist. vMix documentation describes playlist items with start times, durations, and transitions, and its training materials cover playlist functionality. The published material cited here does not establish every current click in the playlist editor, so follow the controls in your installed vMix version rather than relying on an assumed menu path.
#1 Best Overall
- Compact but Powerful Design: ZowieBox is smaller than a phone, featuring a tally light and LCD screen for streaming status. Capture console gameplay in up to 4K with zero-lag HDMI passthrough, while the built-in video encoder converts video for IP streaming. The IP stream can also be decoded back to a 4K HDMI signal.
- Standalone Game Streaming: Just plug and play—ZowieBox enables PC-free live gaming without affecting gameplay. As an RTMP hardware encoder and HDMI streamer, it delivers stable streaming directly from your source, making it ideal for gaming, live events, and professional broadcasting.
- NDI|HX3 Converter Technology: ZowieBox converts HDMI signals to NDI|HX3/HX2/HX, functioning as an NDI video encoder, or NDI Video Decoder for flexible IP workflows. Certified NDI technology enables low-latency gameplay streaming through OBS/vMix. Note: Encoder and decoder modes cannot run simultaneously; full NDI signals are not supported.
- UVC to HDMI Conversion: Supporting up to 4K@30fps and 1080p@60fps decoding, ZowieBox enables flexible conversion for webcam and video workflows. As a video decoder and HDMI to IP converter, it expands connectivity options for professional video devices. Note: USB capture card functionality is not currently supported.
- All-around Configuration Options: Control ZowieBox through its web UI on a PC, phone, or tablet. Manage connected PTZ cameras, tally light, video/audio, OSD, work mode, streams, network, and system settings. Support for VISCA over IP encoder workflows enables flexible PTZ control, while the dashboard provides video preview and system status.
Before connecting to YouTube, check the intended order, timing, transitions, and audio. A playlist can only present the material you have loaded and configured; confirm that the output looks and sounds as intended in vMix before starting a public broadcast. vMix’s official documentation, training videos, and version 29 user guide describe its playlist capabilities.
Choose how vMix connects to YouTube
There are two documented routes. Use YouTube Studio when you want to schedule the event and manage more stream settings there. Use vMix’s YouTube Live Stream Now destination when you want to sign in and create a stream or select an already scheduled event from within vMix. The vMix Live Stream Now instructions date from 2021, so labels may differ in a newer release.

Set up the YouTube Studio route
- In YouTube Studio: create or schedule the live stream and locate its server URL and stream key in the stream settings.
- In vMix: open the live-stream configuration, choose the custom/manual server option documented for your vMix version, and enter the YouTube server URL and stream key. Exact control labels can change between versions; use vMix’s current documentation if they differ.
- Check the event details: confirm you are connecting to the intended scheduled event and that its title, audience, and visibility are correct in YouTube Studio.
- Start the vMix output for a test: allow YouTube to receive the encoder signal, then check the Live Control Room preview before making the event public or starting it for viewers.
Set up the vMix YouTube destination
- Choose the YouTube Live Stream Now destination in vMix.
- If vMix requests authorization, sign in through the browser and review the permissions being requested.
- Create a new stream through the documented flow or select the scheduled event you intend to use.
- Send a test signal and confirm the correct event appears in YouTube’s Live Control Room before going live.
These steps describe the documented flow, not a guarantee that every label remains unchanged. Consult vMix’s Live Stream Now instructions if the interface in your installed version differs.

Protect the stream key and account access
YouTube describes the stream key as similar to a password: it identifies the stream connection and should not be posted publicly or shared casually. If someone else obtains it, reset it in YouTube Live Control Room and update the corresponding encoder setting in vMix. YouTube’s stream settings guidance explains managing the key.
If vMix reports “Request had insufficient authentication scopes” when signing in to YouTube, vMix’s troubleshooting guidance says to log in again through vMix and grant the requested “Manage your YouTube Account” permission. Grant that access only if you expect vMix to operate your YouTube account. See the vMix troubleshooting article.

Preview, start, and monitor the broadcast
- Allow setup time: YouTube recommends configuring the encoder two hours before an event and starting it at least 15 minutes before the planned start.
- Start the vMix stream early enough for YouTube’s Live Control Room to receive it, then inspect the preview for picture, sound, and the correct event.
- Check your available upload capacity against the stream’s combined bitrate and leave headroom; YouTube’s guidance recommends upload capacity above the combined bitrate.
- When the preview and event details are correct, start the event for viewers using the applicable YouTube or vMix controls.
- Keep monitoring audio and video throughout the broadcast. YouTube recommends continuous monitoring rather than assuming that a successful initial preview means the stream will remain healthy.

- You cannot start a livestream: check that the channel is verified for live streaming and eligible, including whether it has had a live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days. Account 2-Step Verification does not replace channel verification.
- YouTube receives no signal: check that vMix is streaming to the intended event and that the server URL and stream key match the event’s current settings. If you reset the key, update it in vMix.
- The wrong event is connected: compare the scheduled event selected in vMix with the event open in YouTube Studio before starting it for viewers.
- Video or audio is not right in the preview: inspect the vMix playlist and output, then verify the Live Control Room preview before going public.
- The stream is unstable: compare the available upload capacity with the combined bitrate and leave headroom; monitor the stream while it is live.
- vMix shows an insufficient-authentication-scopes error: sign in again through vMix and grant the requested YouTube account-management permission only if you trust and intend to authorize that access.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep uploaded videos playing as a 24/7 YouTube stream rather than produce the playlist through vMix, StreamNeo is a separate cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It plays uploaded videos to YouTube; it does not replace a vMix production or broadcast from a camera. Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. Each slot streams the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price, with no re-encode or quality tiers, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. Start your free StreamNeo day.
