Identify which vMix playback feature you are using
Separate vMix inputs arranged in the PlayList window are controlled item by item. A List input instead plays a sequence of video or audio files as one input. Check the window or input you actually use before changing settings: PlayList transition and display settings do not control files inside a List input.
vMix describes PlayList as a way to automate switching or play videos sequentially. Its List feature can also play files back to back and loop, without requiring every file to be loaded at once. vMix User Guide: PlayList · vMix User Guide: List
Fix a black gap between PlayList items
Review the handoff settings on both items
In the PlayList window, inspect the item before the gap and the item after it. Check each item’s start position, duration, transition, transition duration, and Display Type. A PlayList item set to Overlay is layered over the preceding item for its configured duration, so what appears during the handoff can depend on the underlying input and the overlay transition.

- Open the active preset’s PlayList and select the item immediately before the black interval.
- Check its duration and transition, then check the next item’s start position, transition duration, and Display Type.
- If either item uses Overlay, watch the underlying live or program output during a test handoff. Temporarily try a cut or a main-program transition as a diagnostic, then restore the intended transition if it does not change the symptom.
- Repeat with the same clips and timing, and note whether the gap changes in vMix’s program output.
A vMix forum user described a momentary return to the underlying live view when moving between inputs sent to an overlay, and interpreted it as the overlay being cut off before the next input faded in. Fix a black gap inside a List input
If several files are inside one List input, check its playback controls and entries rather than PlayList item transitions.

- Auto Next: Confirm it is enabled if the next file is supposed to start automatically. vMix’s List guide says Auto Next is enabled by default.
- Auto First: Check whether the configured behavior when playback starts or the list ends matches what you expect.
- Loop: Confirm whether the list should repeat and that the setting matches the intended sequence.
- Disabled entries: Verify that the next file has not been disabled in the list.
For control names and behavior, use the vMix List guide. If files are not advancing as intended, test a short sequence with the same controls before changing other inputs.
Find where the black interval first appears
Compare the same moment in vMix’s program output, a local recording or preview, and the YouTube playback. This is a diagnostic step: the available vMix material identifies several different blank or flickering symptoms, but does not establish that YouTube itself causes a playlist gap.

- Note the exact time in the sequence when the gap occurs.
- Check whether the program output is black at that moment.
- Compare a local recording or preview of that output with the YouTube player.
- If the gap appears in program output, focus on the active playback feature and its settings. If it appears only in the YouTube player, retain the comparison and investigate the difference rather than assuming a PlayList or List setting is responsible.
vMix’s knowledge-base index lists other distinct blank or flicker troubleshooting topics, including video display switching, High Input Performance Mode, GT inputs, and Web Browser inputs. When PlayList or List is the better fit

If the gap remains: collect details before escalating
The available documentation does not establish a more specific fix without knowing where the interval occurs and how the sequence is configured. Record these details so the issue can be reproduced:
- vMix version and whether playback uses PlayList or a List input.
- The affected items’ duration, transition, transition duration, and display type, if using PlayList.
- Auto Next, Auto First, Loop, and the affected entry’s enabled status, if using List.
- The exact interval and whether it appears in program output, a local recording or preview, or only in YouTube playback.
