You can stream Om chanting 24/7 from a Windows PC by creating an encoder broadcast in YouTube Studio and sending it through OBS using YouTube’s stream URL and stream key. For it to stay live, the PC, power, internet connection, encoder and audio source must keep working—and a stream longer than 12 hours may not be archived. This guide covers setup, settings, rights, monitoring and a cloud alternative for creators in India.
Before you start: channel, audio and rights
Check YouTube Live eligibility
YouTube’s current getting-started guidance says your channel must be verified and must not have had live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days. Creators must be at least 16. First-time live activation may take up to 24 hours, so enable it before your planned start date. See YouTube’s encoder setup guide and live-streaming eligibility guidance.
Use audio and visuals you have the right to stream
Choose whether the broadcast will be chanting audio over a static image or include video. Use original recordings and visuals where possible, or obtain the relevant rights for both. A devotional theme, public availability, or possession of a license does not by itself guarantee a live stream will avoid interruption. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content, and a rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist even when you have permission. Keep rights documentation available.
Set up the broadcast in YouTube Studio
- Create the broadcast: In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live. In Live Control Room, use the Stream workflow to create the broadcast.
- Install an encoder: YouTube lists OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) as a free, open-source software encoder. An encoder sends your audio and video to YouTube and can combine media and production inputs. Download OBS from its official site, obsproject.com.
- Copy YouTube’s connection details: In the Live Control Room stream settings, copy the stream URL and stream key into the corresponding streaming settings in OBS. Treat the key like a password. If it is exposed, reset it in YouTube’s stream-key controls before broadcasting again.
- Configure the scene and source: For a static image with chanting, add the image and audio file as sources in OBS. For video, add the video source you intend to broadcast. Confirm the audio meter moves and that the preview shows the intended image or video.
- Test before going live: Start streaming from OBS, wait for the preview in Live Control Room, check the broadcast and stream health, and then go live through the stream workflow. Test the entire setup before relying on it for a continuous broadcast.
Choose stable video, audio and network settings
Match settings to the content and connection
A static image with chanting audio does not need an ambitious video resolution. Choose a resolution and bitrate your measured upload can sustain. YouTube recommends running a speed test, keeping about 20% upload headroom, and using a reliable network. Its encoder guidance recommends RTMPS, constant bitrate (CBR), AAC or MP3 audio, and a two-second keyframe interval; the interval should not exceed four seconds. Consult the current YouTube encoder settings guidance when configuring the encoder.

YouTube’s recommended H.264 video bitrates include the following. They are platform recommendations, not a promise that a particular PC or connection will remain stable.

These figures are for H.264; YouTube provides different ranges for AV1 and HEVC. Do not apply H.264 rates to another codec. If a test shows dropped frames or an unstable upload, lower the resolution or bitrate and test again.

Use a reliable connection, not an assumed cable fix
A wired connection can be convenient for a stationary PC, but YouTube does not require Ethernet or prescribe a Cat6 cable. Check that your PC and router support the connection you plan to use before buying accessories. A cable alone cannot ensure a stable stream.
Keep the broadcast running and protect the archive
Plan for power, connectivity and recovery
A local encoder depends on the Windows PC staying powered on, OBS continuing to run, and the power and network connection remaining available. Test the full arrangement and monitor audio, video and stream health; these checks can reveal failures but cannot guarantee uninterrupted 24/7 operation. YouTube recommends testing in advance, checking the preview, verifying that local archive files are growing, and monitoring stream quality during operation. Know the 12-hour archive risk
YouTube may automatically archive a live stream if it is under 12 hours. If it exceeds 12 hours, it may not capture it at all. YouTube recommends keeping a local recording as a backup. If replay archives matter, plan shorter sessions and test how you will stop, restart and reconnect the broadcast. Separate sessions should not be described as an uninterrupted audience experience unless your actual setup provides that handoff.
Copyright and monetization considerations
YouTube scans live content for third-party material. If it detects a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder, warn you, interrupt or terminate the broadcast, or apply a strike. A license may not prevent a live interruption if the rights holder has not allowlisted your channel. YouTube explains these risks in its copyright guidance for live streams.

- You cannot start a live stream: Check channel verification, recent live-stream restrictions and age eligibility. If this is the channel’s first live broadcast, activation may still be processing; YouTube says it can take up to 24 hours.
- YouTube does not receive the encoder feed: Check that OBS has the current stream URL and stream key from the correct Live Control Room broadcast. If the key was exposed, reset it and update OBS.
- The preview is unstable or frames drop: Recheck measured upload speed and leave the recommended 20% headroom. Reduce resolution or bitrate, confirm CBR and the correct codec-specific settings, then test again.
- The audio is missing or distorted: Confirm the intended audio source is active in OBS, its meter moves, and the Live Control Room preview contains sound. Recheck the source file and audio settings before restarting.
- The live stream is interrupted after a content match: Review the matched material, rights documentation and the rights holder’s allowlist status. Do not assume a license alone prevents YouTube’s live scanning response.
- The replay is missing: Check whether the broadcast ran longer than 12 hours. Keep a local recording and use shorter sessions if an archived replay is important.
