If a continuous ASMR stream keeps buffering on Airtel broadband, first lower the video quality in YouTube, then compare playback across devices, services, Wi-Fi locations and—if possible—Ethernet. Buffering by itself cannot tell you whether the cause is YouTube, a device, Wi-Fi, the router or ONT, congestion, or an Airtel connection issue. These checks help narrow down where the symptom follows; they cannot diagnose your line on their own.
Try the quickest playback checks first
Lower YouTube’s quality
- In the YouTube player, select Settings → Quality.
- Choose a lower resolution that is available, then replay the same part of the stream.
- Note whether playback becomes steadier. Lower quality can reduce the immediate load, but it also reduces image detail and does not prove the connection is faulty or establish a required broadband speed.
Airtel also recommends trying a lower resolution when buffering. YouTube’s live-programming guidance notes: “The lower the broadcast delay, the less buffer the video player will have.” That is general context, not evidence that the ASMR stream you are watching uses a low-delay setting.
Check whether the problem is limited to one device or service
- Replay the same stream on another device, if available.
- On the original device, try another YouTube video and a video on another streaming service.
- Note whether the buffering follows one device, appears only on YouTube, or affects several devices and services.
If just one device has trouble, focus next on that device or its YouTube app. YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance suggests restarting the device and, on supported devices, clearing the YouTube app cache. If several devices and services are affected, inspect the home connection and router or ONT as well.
Test whether Wi-Fi is the weak link
Compare playback near the router
Move the device playing the stream closer to the router and replay it. Reduce obstacles between the device and router where practical. If playback improves nearby, the wireless path may be contributing; that comparison does not by itself identify the router as faulty or rule out another issue.

Airtel advises placing the router in a central, open location—not in a corner or closed box—and at least four feet above the floor. Treat that height as Airtel’s placement advice, not a universal technical standard. Ofcom also cautions that slow Wi-Fi does not automatically mean the broadband line is at fault: distance, walls, the router, the device and interference can all affect Wi-Fi.
Choose a Wi-Fi band based on location and signal
Airtel describes 2.4 GHz as offering longer coverage but lower speed, and 5 GHz as faster but with shorter coverage. Try the band that gives your device a more usable connection where you watch. The result depends on distance, obstructions, interference and whether the device supports the band.

Make a wired comparison if your equipment allows it
If both the playback device and router or ONT have Ethernet ports, connect them with an RJ45 Cat5 or Cat6 cable and replay the stream. Airtel documents this type of cable for a computer-to-ONT/router connection. If wired playback improves, Wi-Fi may be part of the problem; it does not prove the Airtel line is healthy or identify a specific wireless fault.
Check the Airtel ONT and router
- Confirm that the ONT and router have power and that their connections are seated.
- Look at the labeled status lights on the equipment. Light names and meanings vary by modem, so use the labels or the equipment’s own guidance rather than assuming one universal pattern.
- Check that the fiber patch cord is seated. Handle it carefully; avoid sharp bends or rough handling.
- Restart the ONT/router as Airtel instructs: disconnect its power, wait 15–20 seconds, reconnect it, and allow the connection to return. Airtel says to wait at least 60 seconds before turning the computer back on.
- If you use the Airtel Thanks app, Airtel documents this Wi-Fi optimization path: Airtel Thanks → Broadband → My Wi-Fi → Wi-Fi → Optimize Wi-Fi. App labels may change.
After the connection is back, replay the same stream and compare the result with your earlier checks.

When to contact Airtel or YouTube
- Several devices and services still buffer: After checking local Wi-Fi and restarting the equipment, contact Airtel. The provider can investigate whether the issue is provider-side or equipment-related.
- The issue is specific to YouTube: Use YouTube’s in-app Help and feedback option, particularly if other services play normally on the same device and connection.
- Only one device is affected: Restart it; if it is a supported device using the YouTube app, try clearing the app cache as YouTube’s guidance describes.
Buffering alone is not enough to establish that you need a faster plan or a replacement router. Share the comparisons you made—devices, services, Wi-Fi versus Ethernet, and distance from the router—when asking for help. Airtel’s support guidance and plan details are available at Airtel’s Xstream Fiber troubleshooting guide; check Airtel’s broadband plans page for current offers and availability rather than inferring an upgrade from buffering alone. YouTube’s streaming and video troubleshooting guidance covers playback checks.
