To keep a Western Ghats waterfall ambience video on YouTube around the clock, prepare footage and sound you have rights to use, connect a video encoder to a YouTube Live stream, and plan for monitoring and interruptions. YouTube’s documented automatic archive guidance covers streams under 12 hours, so it does not establish that one event can run or archive continuously for 24 hours. For a prerecorded loop, label it accurately rather than presenting it as a live camera feed.
Choose prerecorded footage or a live camera
A prerecorded ambience stream uses prepared footage and audio played through an encoder. A live-camera stream shows the waterfall as the camera captures it. Be clear in the title, description, and on-screen presentation about which one viewers are seeing.

For a fixed ambience video, test the loop point and sound before launch. For a real waterfall location, first identify who manages the land. YouTube’s platform guidance does not determine whether a particular Western Ghats site permits filming or commercial recording; ask the relevant land manager or local authority.
Clear footage, sound, and location rights
Use your own footage and field recordings where possible, or obtain licenses that explicitly cover worldwide YouTube livestreaming and archived replays. YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions put responsibility for obtaining necessary rights on the provider.

YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. A match may interrupt or terminate a stream or replace it with a placeholder. Even with a license, the rights owner may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Keep licenses, releases, and any allowlisting confirmation on file. Check channel eligibility and create the YouTube event
- Confirm access. YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have had a livestream restriction in the previous 90 days. Its current live-streaming eligibility guidance also sets a minimum age of 16 for streamers.
- Open Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live. Create or schedule a stream. Scheduling can provide a watch page that viewers can share and reminders for the event.
- Copy the connection details. Copy the stream URL and stream key for your encoder, or use the encoder’s YouTube integration. Treat the key like a password: it lets YouTube accept the feed. Do not publish it; reset it if it is exposed. See Manage live stream settings and YouTube’s encoder setup steps.
Connect an encoder and configure the feed
- Select the source. In the encoder, choose the prepared ambience file or the live camera feed, and route the intended audio. With a file, check that playback continues cleanly at the loop point.
- Enter YouTube’s connection details. If the encoder does not connect through a YouTube integration, paste the stream URL into its server field and the stream key into its key field.
- Use compatible video settings. YouTube’s encoder guidance recommends H.264 video, constant bitrate (CBR), and a two-second keyframe frequency; do not exceed four seconds. Audio can use AAC or MP3. Choose resolution and bitrate to suit the encoder and the available upload connection; the appropriate bitrate depends on the selected resolution and frame rate. Consult YouTube’s current encoder settings, bitrate, and resolution guidance for its recommended bitrate values.
- Allow bandwidth headroom. YouTube recommends keeping upload bandwidth 20% above the total stream bitrate. Include primary and backup feeds in the total if both are streaming.
Test, preview, and monitor
Before relying on the feed, test it with movement and audio representative of the final stream. Inspect the Live Control Room preview for picture, sound, and playback continuity; check that the stream is accessible on the channel and watch pages and on mobile. YouTube’s streaming tips recommend bandwidth headroom, while its live-streaming tips cover previewing and checking stream quality.

During operation, monitor stream health and have a plan for encoder, connection, or power failures. For a continuous presence made from multiple events, schedule and test session transitions rather than assuming a single session will remain available indefinitely. State clearly when the feed is unavailable.
Plan for 24/7 operation and archives
YouTube says that streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That guidance does not promise that one event can run continuously for 24 hours or longer, nor does it specify archive behavior for longer sessions. Check the current Live Control Room behavior before launch and test the session length and transition plan you intend to use. Keep a local recording where practical if you need your own copy.

Understand monetization and reused content
Having permission to use footage or sound does not by itself make a channel eligible for monetization. YouTube reviews reused content separately from copyright and also restricts repetitive or mass-produced “inauthentic” content. Its policy clarification dated July 15, 2025 renamed “repetitious content” to “inauthentic content” and clarified that repetitive or mass-produced material is covered. The review applies across the channel.
