You can schedule a YouTube livestream for a holiday, but a YouTube playlist does not become a livestream just by scheduling it. For prerecorded playlist content, schedule a livestream in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, then send the video feed to that event with an encoder. If you mean one video released at a set time, use a scheduled upload or a Premiere instead.
Choose the right kind of scheduled event
“Playlist stream” can mean a few different things. Decide what you want viewers to experience before setting a date:
| What you want | Use | What viewers get |
|---|---|---|
| One video published at a chosen time | Scheduled video | A regular video that becomes available at the scheduled time. |
| A shared viewing event for one new video | Premiere | A public watch page in advance, with reminders and chat; after the event, the video remains a regular upload. |
| Prerecorded videos broadcast as a live event | Scheduled livestream plus an encoder feed | A live event fed by an encoder. Scheduling a YouTube playlist alone does not create or transmit this feed. |
YouTube’s playlist tools are for creating and managing collections of videos; they do not describe pressing play on a playlist as a way to schedule a livestream. For a holiday broadcast that should play prerecorded material under the livestream format, use the third workflow.
Choose and verify the holiday date
Indian public holidays can differ by state and by the institution or audience you are planning for. Pick the intended year and verify the date against the official calendar relevant to that audience, such as the applicable government, school, employer, or institution calendar. Do not assume there is one date list that applies to every Indian viewer.

- Decide which audience you are serving and which jurisdiction’s holiday calendar matters to them.
- Check whether the observance falls on the same date for that audience and year.
- For viewers in multiple regions, state the date and time zone in the event description and promotion.
- Do not choose a start time on the assumption that a particular holiday hour performs best. No holiday-specific best-time evidence is established here.
YouTube for Artists lists holidays among the occasions creators may use for livestreams and recommends keeping a consistent streaming schedule. That is general planning guidance, not a claim that a particular Indian holiday or hour guarantees more viewers.
Schedule a prerecorded playlist livestream in YouTube Studio
- Prepare the event details. Choose the title, description, visibility, audience setting, intended date and local start time. Make clear that the event is a livestream if that is what viewers should expect.
- Open Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, go to the Live Control Room, open Manage, and choose Schedule Stream. Confirm the displayed date and time before saving. The cited instructions do not establish the time-zone semantics of this scheduling field, so check the date shown in Studio and identify the time zone explicitly in your public announcement.
- Retrieve the stream connection details. Use the stream URL and stream key shown in Live Control Room to connect your encoder. Treat the stream key as a credential: do not post or share it publicly. If you think it has been exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube’s stream settings before the event.
- Set up the encoder’s prerecorded feed. Add the video or playlist in the encoder you have chosen and configure it to send the feed to the scheduled event using the supplied URL and key. YouTube’s documented workflow requires an encoder feed for this use case; a playlist in Studio is not a substitute for that feed.
- Rehearse and inspect the preview. Test the complete connection before the holiday. Check that the intended content and sound appear in Live Control Room’s preview and that the feed is arriving before you use the go-live controls.
- Share the watch page. Promote the scheduled event page ahead of time. Viewers can find the event there and use reminders where available.
- Start the event. At the planned time, start the encoder and confirm the feed in Live Control Room. Use the preview and go-live controls there to begin the event; scheduling the event in advance does not itself start the encoder feed.
Handle time zones and dates carefully
For a holiday stream near midnight, or one aimed at viewers outside your own region, write the time zone alongside the start time in every announcement. Check the resulting calendar date in Studio as well as the date in your promotional copy. A separate YouTube rule applies to scheduled video uploads: their watch-page publication date is based on Pacific Standard Time, so it can differ from the date shown in Studio for schedules set ahead of PST. Do not assume that this scheduled-video date rule explains the Live Control Room’s scheduling field.

Copyright and programming checks
Scheduling an event does not grant permission to broadcast its contents. Before building a holiday playlist, confirm that you have the necessary rights for every video, music track, performance, and other material you plan to use. A public playlist or a video that is available to watch on YouTube is not, by itself, evidence that you may rebroadcast it as part of a livestream. Review YouTube’s applicable copyright and monetization rules for your channel and content before going live.
Keep the event’s promise accurate: if viewers are joining a livestream fed by prerecorded content, describe it accordingly rather than implying that it is a live performance or live camera broadcast.

Common scheduling problems and fixes
| Problem | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| The playlist is not appearing as a livestream | A YouTube playlist is a collection, not an encoder-fed broadcast. | Schedule a livestream event in Live Control Room and connect an encoder feed. |
| The event is scheduled, but viewers see no live feed | The encoder has not started, or it is not connected to the scheduled event. | Confirm the encoder is running and using that event’s stream URL and key; inspect the Live Control Room preview. |
| The stream is connected to the wrong event | An incorrect URL or stream key was entered. | Compare the encoder’s connection details with the scheduled event’s details in Live Control Room. Keep the key private. |
| The advertised holiday date differs from the Studio date | The announcement and Studio may use different time zones, or the applicable holiday calendar may differ by jurisdiction. | Verify the audience’s official calendar, check the date displayed in Studio, and state the time zone in promotions. |
| The video or audio is not what you expected | The full feed was not tested before the event. | Rehearse with the encoder and check both picture and sound in the preview before going live. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If your plan is to keep prerecorded content playing on a YouTube channel rather than operate an encoder at home, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it loops uploaded videos to YouTube, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. Each slot costs the same regardless of uploaded quality, up to 4K 60fps, and the first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month.
StreamNeo is for uploaded video, not a live camera feed, and streams to YouTube. See StreamNeo, or start the free first day.
