YouTube Studio manages the broadcast event; the encoder or media source supplies and loops the feed. In OBS, enable Loop Playlist for a multi-file VLC Video source, or Loop for a single-file Media Source. Then check whether the encoder is still sending video when the block ends.
First identify what has stopped
A scheduled live stream and a playlist inside its video feed are separate things. YouTube’s setup documentation describes scheduling a broadcast and connecting an encoder with a stream URL and stream key, but does not document a Studio setting that automatically rotates scheduled playlist blocks. The likely place to fix rotation is the source or encoder that creates the feed; that is a starting point, not a confirmed diagnosis of your particular setup. At the moment the first block ends, determine which of these is happening:
- The media source reaches its end. Check the source’s playlist and loop controls.
- The encoder continues sending, but the broadcast ends or loses its feed. Check the connection and live state in YouTube Live Control Room. YouTube recommends monitoring the preview and stream quality while broadcasting.
The term “scheduled block” can mean different things, and the encoder, operating system, and source software are not specified here. The OBS instructions below apply only if OBS is producing the feed.

Enable the right loop setting in OBS
Choose the path that matches how the media is arranged. The settings are different: Media Source is for a single local file, while VLC Video can play an ordered list of files.

For one file: Media Source
- In the scene used for the live output, select the Media Source that plays the video and open its properties.
- Confirm that the intended file is selected and enable Loop.
- Apply the change, then observe the source through the end of the file to verify that playback starts again.
For a sequence: VLC Video
- In the live scene, select the VLC Video source and open its properties.
- Check that every intended file is present and arranged in the desired order.
- Enable Loop Playlist. OBS describes this control as specifying whether the source should restart once it has run out of media files.
- Check the source’s visibility behavior. If it is configured to stop when hidden and restart when visible, a scene change or hidden source can affect playback.
The VLC Video source requires VLC to be installed. If you use 64-bit OBS, install 64-bit VLC. See the OBS Project’s Media Sources documentation for the source options.

Test the handoff at the end of the first block
- Keep the scene containing the source active and watch the source as the first file or playlist ends.
- Check whether the source begins the next file or starts its sequence again.
- At the same time, check that OBS is still sending the encoder feed and that YouTube Live Control Room still shows the broadcast as live.
- If OBS’s source stops or goes blank, revisit the source type, file list, loop option, and visibility behavior. If OBS continues sending but YouTube’s broadcast ends or loses its preview, investigate the encoder connection and broadcast state in Live Control Room.
This boundary test helps separate a media-loop problem from a live connection problem. YouTube’s guidance covers connecting an encoder and monitoring the broadcast; it does not establish that a scheduled event will restart a source playlist for you.
Do not confuse source looping with YouTube playback controls
A viewer can loop a playlist from the playlist box on a YouTube watch page, but that repeats viewer playback; it does not configure the playlist feeding an encoder. Likewise, scheduling a live broadcast creates a broadcast event, not a documented source-playlist rotation rule. YouTube also says encoder-created streams under 12 hours are automatically archived after they end. Archiving is a record of a finished stream, not a restart mechanism.
